<p>With “A Year Before” you can show the titles of the articles which were written a certain time ago. So you can show in a “historical corner”, what happend in your blog e.g. 30 days, 6 months or a year before. You also can use the “anniversary-mode”, which will display all the posts through the years, which were written on this day and month.</p>
<p>You can use it as a wordpress-widget or put it in your theme as a php-function with parameters.</p>
<h3>Configuration</h3>
<h4>Using the widget</h4>
<p>Just click on the configuration-button of the widget an use the selfexplaining popup-dialog.<br />
Use the output-pattern to define the look of the found articles. Possible patterns are:</p>
<ul>
<li>%title% The title of the article</li>
<li>%link% The link to the article</li>
<li>%date% The date of the article</li>
<li>%excerpt% The excerpt of the article. You can define the number of displayed characters bei appending the number like %excerpt80%, which will display 80 characters.</li>
<li>%thumbnail% The featured image of the article.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Not using the widget</h4>
<p>You can call the plugin with a PHP-statement in a WordPress-Theme and pass some parameters in this scheme<br />
parameter1=value1&parameter2=value2&parameter3=value3 …</p>
<p>You can use the following parameters</p>
<ul>
<li>day : the number of days ago you want to show the articles.</li>
<li>month : the number of month ago you want to show the articles.</li>
<li>year : the number of years ago you want to show the articles.</li>
<li>before : piece of HTML to insert before the title of the articles. Default <code><li></code></li>
<li>after: piece of HTML to insert after the title of the articles. Default <code></li></code></li>
<li>range: number of days the plugin will search back in the future (relative to the values of day, month and year above) for an article. Meant as a “round about this day”-feature. Default 0</li>
<li>showdate: shows the date (showdate=1) before every title or not (showdate=0)</li>
<li>dateformat : dateformat as used by PHP. Default ist the german shortform “d.m.y”</li>
<li>notfound: the text the plugin will output, if no article is found on the defined date.</li>
<li>anniversary: if set to 1, the plugin will display all articles ever blogged with the same number of day and month. The parameters “day”, “month”, “year” and “range” will be ignored if used.</li>
<li>private: show private posts? 0: only public posts 1: private and public posts 2: only private posts. Default 0</li>
<li>showpages: show pages? 0: No, 1: Yes. Default 0</li>
<li>posts_max: number of articles to be shown. 0 means ‘all’. Default 0</li>
</ul>
<h4>Examples</h4>

<p>Shows the titles of the articles written 30 days ago without showing the date. The articles will not been showed as a HTML-list but simply seperated by a linebreak <code><br /></code>.</p>

<p>The titles of the articles written half a year and two weeks before, also showing the date . If there was no article written on that day, the output will be »Nothing blogged on this day.«</p>

<p>Looks up a year back for written articles. If none are found, the plugin will check the next 14 days in the future. If a article is found on some of this days, all articles of this day will be listed with a “year-month-day”-format.</p>

<p>Shows the title of all posts, which were posted on the same day in the same month, independend of the year. E.g. on chistmas day you will see all posts, which are posted on december 24th since the blog was started.</p>
<h3>Styling</h3>
<p>If you like CSS, you can style the date with the class <code>ayb_date</code>, the link of the article with the class <code>ayb_link</code> and the notfound-message by using the class <code>ayb_notfound</code>.</p>
<h3>Uninstall</h3>
<p>Deactivate the plugin, then select “delete” in the plugin-panel. The files <em>and</em> the options of this plugin will be deleted. Thank you for using “a year before”. 😉</p>

"A Year Before" shows a list of articles, which were written a certain time ago. So you can show in a history, what happend in your blog in  …

<p>This plugin allows you to enter and manage different kinds of events that you then display in via a widget or shortcodes.</p>
<h3>Shortcodes</h3>
<p>There are two shortcodes.  <code>[tdih]</code> shows output as a list similar to the widget and <code>[tdih_tab]</code> shows output as a table.</p>
<h4>tdih</h4>
<p>You can add a <code>[tdih]</code> shortcode to any post or page to display a list of events as per the widget.</p>
<p>There are eleven optional attributes for this shortcode</p>
<ul>
<li>show_age (0, 1) – 1 shows the age in years of the event in brackets after the title and 0 does not (default).</li>
<li>show_link (0-2) – 0 shows a more link if there is more to show (default), 1 links the title if there is more to show and 2 always links the title.</li>
<li>show_type (0, 1) – 1 shows event types (default) and 0 does not.</li>
<li>
<p>show_year (0, 1) – 1 shows the year of the event (default) and 0 does not.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>type – enter a type to show only events of that type. Shows all types by default.</p>
</li>
<li>day (1-31) – enter a day to show only events on that day. Shows all days by default.</li>
<li>month (1-12, c) – enter a month to show only events in that month. Shows all months by default.</li>
<li>year (-9999 to 9999, 0) – enter a year to show only events in that year. Shows all years by default.</li>
<li>period (t, m, y) – show events for today, tomorrow and yesterday. Shows today’s events by default.</li>
<li>classes – enter one or more space separated classes which will be added to the table tag.</li>
<li>max_rows (1-99) – enter a maximum number of events to show. Shows all events by default.</li>
</ul>
<p>Example use:</p>
<ul>
<li><code>[tdih]</code> – This shows year and event types for all event types for today’s events.</li>
<li><code>[tdih show_type=0 type='birth']</code> – This shows year and event but not type for the event type (slug) of birth.</li>
<li><code>[tdih year=1066 max_rows=5]</code> – This shows year and event types for up to five events that happened on this day in 1066.</li>
</ul>
<h4>tdih_tab</h4>
<p>You can add a <code>[tdih_tab]</code> shortcode to any post or page to display a table of events.</p>
<p>There are fourteen optional attributes for this shortcode:</p>
<ul>
<li>show_date (0, 1) – 1 shows the date (default) and 0 does not.</li>
<li>show_dow (0, 1) – 1 shows the day of the week and 0 does not (default).</li>
<li>show_head (0, 1) – 1 shows a header row (default) and 0 does not.</li>
<li>show_link (0, 1, 2) – 0 shows a more link if there is more to show, 1 links the title if there is more to show and 2 always links the title.</li>
<li>
<p>show_type (0, 1) – 1 shows event types (default) and 0 does not.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>order_dmy (0, 1) – 0 sorts chronologically by year-month-day (default) and 1 sorts by day-month-year.</p>
</li>
<li>type – enter a type to show only events of that type. Shows all types by default.</li>
<li>day (1-31) – enter a day to show only events on that day. Shows all days by default.</li>
<li>month (1-12, c) – enter a month to show only events in that month. Shows all months by default.</li>
<li>year (-9999 to 9999, 0) – enter a year to show only events in that year. Shows all years by default.</li>
<li>period (a, c, l, m, n, t, w, y) – t, m, y show events for today, tomorrow and yesterday. c, l, n, w show events for current, last, next and ISO week. a show all events. Shows today’s events by default.</li>
<li>period_days (1-99) – enter the number of days to show for t, m, y periods only. Shows only one day by default.</li>
<li>date_format – enter a custom <a href="https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php" rel="nofollow ugc">php date format</a> to display the date. Uses the tdih admin setting by default.</li>
<li>classes – enter one or more space separated classes which will be added to the table tag.</li>
</ul>
<p>NB:</p>
<ul>
<li>day of the week will never be shown if the date is not shown.</li>
<li>Setting date_format will override the tdih admin format and the day of the week setting.</li>
<li>Setting period will override any values for day, month and year.</li>
<li>day, month and year can be combined.</li>
<li>year=0 will display events with no year</li>
<li>month=c will display the current month</li>
<li>period=c, l or n show a seven day period with the current day as the middle, last or first day.</li>
</ul>
<p>Example use:</p>
<ul>
<li><code>[tdih_tab period='a']</code> – This shows a full list of events in date order and includes the event type.</li>
<li><code>[tdih_tab show_types=0 type='birth' classes='content dark']</code> – This shows events but not type for the event type (slug) of birth. ” content dark” will be added to the table’s class.</li>
<li><code>[tdih_tab day=20 month=8 date_format='Y']</code> –  This shows events on 20th August in any year. Format the date to only show the four digit year.</li>
