There are plenty of plugins available which allow site visitors to rate posts, but I didn’t find any that gave the post author that functionality, so I wrote this plugin. Author Post Ratings adds a meta box to the post edit screen, allowing you to chose a 1-5 star rating for the post, or to leave it unrated. The plugin will automatically add the post rating (using stars, and an optional label) to the top or bottom of the post. If you wish, you can disable that functionality altogether and use a shortcode to insert the post rating anywhere in the post you choose. The plugin supports ratings for posts, pages, and custom post types, all of which can be individually enabled or disabled in the plugin settings. It is also fully internationalized, with Spanish language translation files included.
<h3>Translating the Plugin</h3>
The post rating label text can be changed in the plugin settings, so no translation is required for the frontend (public side) of the site. However, if you wish to translate the backend settings interface, the plugin is fully internationalized and ready for translation. There is a .po and a .mo file included in the plugin’s ‘languages’ directory for your convenience.

Allows a post author to assign a simple 1-5 star rating to a post, page, or custom post type, which will then be displayed on the post.

Stars Rating

So i was looking for some simple star rating system, that would support schema and had as least bloat as possible. I thought i found what i was looking for, unfortunely this is not the case.

For simple usage it's ok, but there's two major drawbacks:
* Can't use it outside specified post/page/cpt, i.e. you wanna list ratings on loop somewhere? Too bad. 
* WHOLE Font Awesome library for simple star icon and it's added to plugin TWICE! Who does that? Without all that FA bloat plugin weight goes down to ~170kb from almost 2MB.

Also i'm not sure that author of the plugin understands support enquiries, but that might be just my speculation.

Acceptable quality at most

Very Good

Does what it says. I tried 3 other Plugins to get my CPT ratings, but due to heavy customization in the comments template (and form) none of them worked. This one integrates without any problems.

The only thing I'd like to see is an option to hide or customize the average rating text - for now it's not possible to only show the average number without additional text.

Hiding all text with CSS doesn't work too, because the text is in plain HTML without a class. I would like to have it like this:

Would enable more options for styling.
