Automatic Featured Image Posts creates a new post with a Featured Image every time an image is uploaded. Through the plugin settings page, you can set the image to publish and assign itself to one of your other existing custom post types and/or post formats.
The imagined use case is to make managing a large number of photos through WordPress a little more interesting and a little more fun.
After uploading 10, 100, or 1000 pictures from an event or vacation, you and other users can go through and spend the majority of your time adding content, tags, and titles to your photographs rather than going through a monotonous process creating new posts over and over again.
Settings are available for:

<li>Default Post Status (draft, pending, published, private)</li>
<li>Default Post Type
<ul>
<li>Default is the WordPress post.</li>
<li>Can choose any custom post type registered in your WordPress installation.</li>
</ul>

<li>Default Post Format
<ul>
<li>Default is ‘standard’, which equates to none.</li>
<li>Other options are provided if registered by your theme</li>
</ul>
</li>

Filters are available for:
<ul>
<li><code>afip_new_post_title</code> = Allow other functions or themes to change the post title before creation.</li>
<li><code>afip_new_post_category</code> = Allow other functions or themes to change the post categories before creation.</li>
<li><code>afip_new_post_content</code> = Allow other functions or themes to change the post content before creation.</li>
<li><code>afip_new_post_date</code> = Allow other functions or themes to change the post date before creation.</li>
<li><code>afip_post_parent_continue</code> = Allow creation of a new post when an image is inserted in an existing post.</li>
<li><code>afip_continue_new_post</code> = Allow other functions or themes to skip creation of a post.</li>
</ul>
Actions are available for:
<ul>
<li><code>afip_pre_create_post</code> = Runs immediately before each post is created for an image.</li>
<li><code>afip_created_post</code> = Runs after each image load is processed.</li>

One of those plugins which make my life a lot easier. Yes, it's rather specific, but for those who want to use wordpress as a photoblog it's great.

On request though, could you update the "tested up to" tag in the readme? Wordpress.org complains it's too long ago since something changed and it doesn't show up anymore in the search results for new plugins. As it works quite nice under 4.9.1, a minor update would solve this issue.

On the one hand, PiwigoPress is a WordPress Sidebar Widget that links 
your blog to some public pictures of a Piwigo gallery. Thus, a Piwigo 
gallery with several public pictures in it is a prerequisite to make it 
working. But even if you don’t have one yet, you can nonetheless give this 
plugin a try by using the Official Piwigo <a href="http://piwigo.org/demo/" title="The demonstration gallery" rel="nofollow ugc">demonstration gallery</a> before 
setting up your own gallery.
PiwigoPress generates several highly valuable links in sidebars of your 
WordPress blog, all of them being optional: a thumbnail linking to 
the corresponding picture page, menus directing to all albums defined 
as public in the gallery, several additional links to most recent, most 
viewed, most commented pictures, and more.
On the other hand, by using a shortcode [PiwigoPress …] you can add 
any public picture of a Piwigo gallery. Here again you should try even 
though you don’t have yet your Piwigo Gallery. Have a look with 
[PiwigoPress id=72 url=’http://piwigo.org/demo’] in a post or page.
Above all, PiwigoPress provides a shortcode generator. Each time you 
add some pictures to your gallery you will be able to add a post related 
to your last uploaded photos. So, your friends and family are going to 
like your photos and Search Engines are going reference your gallery with 
the refbacks provided by PiwigoPress.
When you’ve finished testing and want to create you own gallery, go to the 
Piwigo <a href="http://piwigo.org/basics/downloads" title="Piwigo download page" rel="nofollow ugc">download page</a>, where you’ll find all the links you might need.
Try “NetInstall” first. If it fails, switch to the “Package” download and 
follow the full installation procedure. When ready, if you are a bit lost, 
just try Photos add page sheets (Web form, Applications, FTP + Synchronization) 
in your Piwigo gallery administration page.
