<p>CompressX is a free, lightweight and simple Webp & AVIF conversion and compression plugin for WordPress websites. It helps you to easily convert JPG and PNG images to WebP and AVIF formats, and compress WebP and AVIF images. The AVIF and WebP conversion is performed locally on the web server.</p>

<h4>1. Convert AVIF & Compress AVIF</h4>
<p>Convert jpg, png, and WebP images on your WordPress website to AVIF format, and compress AVIF images according to the compression level you set.<br />

<h4>3. Exclude Folders</h4>
<p>Select specific folders in your media library and prevent images inside them from being processed.</p>
<h4>4. Custom Folders</h4>
<p>Select folders that are in the wp-content folder but outside the Uploads (media library) and process images inside them.</p>
<h4>5. Auto-Process New Images</h4>
<p>Automatically convert new images uploaded to a WordPress website to WebP/AVIF format and compress WebP/AVIF images upon upload.</p>
<h4>6. Auto-Remove Large Images</h4>
<p>Automatically remove converted AVIF/WebP images when they are larger than original images.</p>
<h4>7. Restore Original Images</h4>
<p>Your images will be reverted to their original state and all AVIF/WebP images and data in the database generated by CompressX will be removed when CompressX is uninstalled.</p>

AVIF & WebP Converter


It's all new, but I believe this can go far ! I was looking for a plugin with free AVIF conversion, and locally hosted (a lot of images plugins use their servers to compress, that's why a lot of them are expensive).Awesome support, totally free (for now ?), does the same thing as the famous Media Converter, but with free AVIF. Take my 5/5 rating ;)EDIT : Oh no wait, it does more than media converter, allowing you to set a max width / height on your images :fire:


This may be my future goto plugin for image optimisation


Deserves 5-stars just for vision and generosity in making this exist!

Constant annoying ad in the paid version of Elementor for this plugin that I and my customers have to close all the time. Grrrrr

I don't like the new spammy plugin install prompts everywhere on my sites. This is an unnecessary plugin, and there are plenty of better and free options for image optimization.


This is not a good choice


At first I thought it was just another image optimization plugin. Whereby I am totally convinced of the Elementor Builder and therefore already had the hope that the image optimization would also convince me. I then tested it on my own website. When I created it, I naturally made sure that the images were optimized. I was all the more surprised that after optimizing with the plugin, the images could be reduced by more than half the file size. I can therefore highly recommend it.


Does what it promises


Image optimizer is very easy to configure and once done, each new image is optimized automatically and quickly and it works quite well, because it has improved the loading speed of my site!



My images were already optimized and I didn't think it was possible to further gain compression without losing quality.



In the media library, you can see each image with the space saved as well as the total space saved, this allows you to see the space saved at a glance.

The plugin works so well compared to the other solutions around,I install it for customers' websites and finely they can upload images without my help explaining how to compress the images.

It suggests to install in free version of elementor but later when you wanna do something it asks to connect with elementor pro. What the hell is this plan, why WP even approve this? Even you should 1% free.
