<p>This plugin allows you to dynamically return the number of children for a particular page. Inserting <code>[children page="page-slug"]</code> in a post or page, or <code><?php do_shortcode('children page="page-slug" '); ?></code> anywhere in WordPress’ code will return the number of children for that particular page.</p>
<p>Useful for creating dynamic table of contents pages, keeping track of page stats, general bragging, or any place where keeping a running tally might be desirable.</p>

Count Children

Adds a custom shortcode that returns the number of children for a given page. Accepts page ID, name, or slug as input.

<p>This plugin for bbpress shows any combination of the total topics, replies and total count under the avatar or within the post content on each topic/reply view in bbpress, and allows you to label these as you wish eg “Topics Created : 253″ or “Topics – 253″</p>
<p>You can choose to link the number counts to each user’s profile page (topics, replies, and engagements) or just display the number counts without links.</p>

Simply and it's working

Very happy. It works perfectly and easily. I like the options for being able to display it however you want, and the thousand separator option. 

I think it would be a great idea if you included the "posts count" or "post count" in your plugin description. Would be easier for bbpress users to find. Right now it only has the words "topic count" and I don't think that's the verbiage many users (like myself) would naturally type in.
