<p>Built from the ground up based upon the latest technology and designed to support WordPress’ vision for the platform’s<br />
future,  <strong>Dynamic Tables</strong> is a new WordPress block plugin to create and manage information that is best organized<br />
as a table. The block is designed to be easily configured and highly responsive.</p>
<p>Dynamic Tables was created on a solid technical framework with the objective of delivering a complete end-to-end<br />
block solution for creating beautiful tables that are easy to maintain.  Additionally, this framework will provide a<br />
springboard to rapidly build upon this foundation to provide additional features.  Some capabilities on the<br />
roadmap include:<br />
* Support for templates and cloning.  Note that this support is <strong>not currently available</strong>. It is the first roadmap item.<br />
* Support for front end interactivity to sort and filter tables<br />
* Integrating Dynamic Tables with WordPress search<br />
* Allowing for specific content types and formats for all rows in a column (e.g, images, links, buttons, numeric formats, etc.) without the need to format each cell<br />
* Importing and exporting table data in common formats (e.g., csv, xlsx)<br />
* Enhanced responsive formatting for mobile devices<br />
* Front end editing</p>
<p>This is just a sample of the roadmap, some of which will be included in this free community edition while others will be available in a future premium version of Dynamic Tables.</p>

<li>“Show table borders” creates a spreadsheet metaphore for intuitive column and row formatting. Toggle the boarders off when formats are set</li>
<li>Menu options to add or delete columns and rows</li>
<li>Fine grain control of column widths including support for:</li>
<li>Proportional or fix widths</li>
<li>Minimum and maximum widths so that text wraps appropriately, automatically adjusting row height</li>
<li>Supports both fixed (e.g., pixel) and inferred (e.g., character) sizing units</li>

<li>Optionally allow the first row to be a header</li>
<li>Optionally freeze headers with a vertical scrollbar</li>
<li>Support styling for the header row including borders and text alignment independently from table body rows</li>

<li>Optionally display table grid licenses</li>
<li>Optionally display banded rows with styling for the band and text color</li>
<li>Allow for a horizontal scroll if table contents exceed the page width</li>

<li>All color styling comes pre-loaded with the current theme colors with support for custom colors as well</li>

<h3>Love You Inner Geek!</h3>
<p>This information will be appealing to our techie friends, soothing their passion for embracing the technology.  Dynamic Blocks has an<br />
architecture that is somewhat unique to the world of Gutenberg development in that the table definition and content are stored in<br />
custom WordPress database tables because we didn’t believe it structurally lent itself well to the Post data metaphore.  These are<br />
the primary building blocks:<br />
* Table data and definitions are abstracted through a block entity types<br />
* Entities natively call RESTful api’s<br />
* There is an underlying WordPress REST API service that supports the loading and saving of table data<br />
* The service interacts with a highly abstracted SQL layer which leverages WordPress WPDB<br />
* The tables themselves leverage the newer CSS grid framework<br />
  * Much of the flexibility is derived from grid functinality that has been incorporated into mainstream web browsers as recently as 2024<br />
  * This framework provides responsiveness that doesn’t “break” table structure.  Misalighed rows and columns, unexpected wrapping, and otherwise indecipherable tables have been beaten down.<br />
* The API architecture can theoretically support data stored in external files or web services. We’re considering these capabilities in our roadmap.</p>

<p>This plugin swaps list for table, if a viewer opens a your page with small width display.<br />
The list for small width display is made from the table which you put in a page with table block editor. You do not need to write list having same contents in table. You can enable this plugin with a simple operation.<br />
The plugin creates list on browser dynamically. So the list is not exists in your WordPress database. You will edit the table being enabled this plugin, even after you uninstall this plugin.</p>
<h4>Table structure and List structure</h4>
<p>Table has header which each cells are in row towards horizontally. The table body’s each cells related with header cells are in row towards horizontally.</p>
<p>The informations is in row towards horizontally even if you see them with small width device. But other information tends to be in row towards vertically.<br />
You visit a page, see contents from top to down. It’s natural way to scroll the display vertically. You encounter a table having long rows while scrolling, you have to stop scrolling vertically and, scroll display horizontally. At end of table row, you have to back to the start of row with scrolling and then scroll down again.</p>
<p>It originated in table having horizontal categorized cells arrangement.<br />
It is not proper for me to keep table structure and show the data vertically.<br />
It is nice for me to arrange data with list. The list data structure has the kind to arrange data vertically.</p>
<h4>OC Smart Table in background</h4>
<p>OC Smart Table creates list from table on browser side dynamically at opening the page. But list is not visible if the display width is enough to show table.<br />
If the display width is not enough to show table, swap list for table.</p>
<h3>Usage</h3>
<h4>Enable OC Smart Table (free)</h4>
<p>You put “oc-smart-table” in  Additional CSS class(es) at Advanced section on Settings sidebar. You need this operation only when you make editting table active. For example, You put a table with table block editor or click a table block which you put before.</p>
<h4>Enable OC Smart Table</h4>
<p>If you have OC Smart Table standard edition, You click “Enable Smart Table” from other toolbar item in table block editor, then You make the editing table be enabled Smart Table.</p>

<h4>Inherit colors and styles</h4>
<p>You can make the list which the plugin create having table’s colors and styles. To enable the inheritance, You need to enable option “inherit colors and styles” in Smart table setting in Setting sidebar.</p>
