<p>Ebert Media Taxonomies adds flexible taxonomy management for WordPress media attachments.</p>
<p>The plugin allows you to create and manage custom media taxonomies and use them to organize images and other media files. It provides filtering, assignment and bulk assignment tools directly in the WordPress media library.</p>

<h3>Usage</h3>
<h4>Manage taxonomies</h4>
<p>Go to Media <span aria-hidden="true" class="wp-exclude-emoji">→</span> Media Taxonomies.</p>
<p>There you can create, edit, rename and remove managed taxonomies. Removing a taxonomy from plugin management does not delete its terms or media assignments.</p>
<h4>Manage categories/terms</h4>
<p>On the Media Taxonomies page, click Edit categories. This opens the WordPress term management screen for that taxonomy.</p>
<h4>Assign categories in grid view</h4>
<p>Open the media library in grid view, click Bulk select, select images, choose a category and apply it.</p>
<h4>Filter media</h4>
<p>The plugin adds a filter dropdown for the active taxonomy. You can filter by all media, media with category, media without category, or a specific category.</p>
<h3>Languages</h3>
<p>The plugin includes built-in German and English interface texts. The displayed language follows the current WordPress admin language.</p>
<h3>License</h3>
<p>This plugin is licensed under the GPLv2 or later.</p>

<p>This plugin is a modified version of the export procedure.</p>
<p>Standard export procedure can be recovered unistalling or deactivating this plugin.</p>

Life Saver

When searching for a plugin on WordPress to resolve the issue if exporting and importing the media library, this plugin doesn't come up. However, once I found it via some forum comments on page 4 of a Google query I was desperate enough to give it a try. 

The plugin worked, though it did seem to lock up the new site for several minutes. I checked back after 20 minutes and all images had been uploaded to the Media Library. For me it worked and now I'm removing it. Gràcies!
