Scenario
You’re the only user who can create posts and moderate comments on your WordPress installation.
You have both ‘Email me when anyone posts a comment’ and ‘Email me when a comment is held for moderation’ options checked.
You get an email about a comment awaiting moderation and you approve it.
The problem is that right after that you get a second email letting you know that a new comment has been posted, which of course you already knew about.
Solution
Instead of disabling email notifications for new comments alltogether, you can use this plugin and not receive the redundant emails mentioned above.

Filter Email Notifications

Stop WordPress from sending email notifications for comments that have been manually approved.

YellowLab Stop Core Emails adds a focused settings page under Settings > Stop Core Emails, where administrators can disable selected native WordPress email notifications.
You can manage email notifications for:

<li>automatic plugin updates</li>
<li>automatic theme updates</li>
<li>automatic WordPress core updates</li>
<li>available core update notices</li>
<li>new user notifications sent to administrators</li>
<li>user password changes</li>
<li>password change notices sent to administrators</li>

<li>site administrator email address changes</li>
<li>new comments</li>
<li>comments waiting for moderation</li>
<li>critical error and recovery mode messages</li>
</ul>
The plugin does not block updates, user actions, comments, or recovery features. It only disables the selected email notifications.
After activation, open Settings > Stop Core Emails or use the Settings link on the Plugins screen.
