This plug-in enables the addition of <a href="http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/?gp=1380445673" title="Giveaway of the Day" rel="nofollow ugc">Giveawayoftheday.com</a> software giveaways in your WordPress blog with just a simple shortcode.
This is my first WordPress plug-in, made basically to simplify the edition of my <a href="http://www.falarcompaulo.com.br/" title="Paulo R. Ribeiro - Prestador Aut?nomo de Servi?os de Inform?tica" rel="nofollow ugc">site</a> front page, and since it became quite a nice plug-in, I decided to share it, hoping it will be useful to somebody else.

To make things easier to understand, let’s assume that the software being given away is the My Awesome Software which requires Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1 (x64/x86); 1GB RAM/Pentium D or above, is developed by My Software Company that normally sells it for $199.95, has a download file size of 132.45 MB and can be downloaded for free for the next 14 hours and 37 minutes.

<li>Note: The giveaways timespan are usualy set to 24 hours, which means that the parameter “days” will almost always return zero, this is why I strongly recomend you to use the <code>timeleft</code> parameter to get the giveaway remaining time instead.</li>

Giveaway of the Day Shortcode

This plug-in enables the addition of Giveawayoftheday.com software giveaways in your WordPress blog with just a simple shortcode.

The shortcode requires the widget ID, but no need to guess, the plugin generates the code for you. To override the widget title for a widget you can use the “title” parameter: 
 [widget id=”text-1″ title=”New title”] 
You can also hide the widget title entirely if desired: 
 [widget id=”text-1″ title=”0″]
Additional Parameters:

<li>container_tag: the HTML tag to use for the widget container, default: <code>div</code></li>
<li>container_class: CSS classname added to the widget container, default: <code>widget %2$s</code> (Note: uses sprintf for variable substitution)</li>
<li>container_id: HTML ID attribute for the widget container, default: <code>%1$s</code> (Note: uses sprintf for variable substitution)</li>
<li>title_tag: HTML tag to use for the widget title wrapper, default: <code>h2</code></li>

Widget Shortcode

I had tried another plugin to use a widget in the gutenberg block editor on a page, however that plugin had some issues so was not ideal.

Widget shortcode enabled me to add my widget by copying the generated shortcode to the shortcode block in the block editor, resulting in the widget being displayed perfectly on the page.
