The Icon Block

Really love this plugin, have a good collection of inbuild svg icons to use and we can use any custom svg icon by simply pasting in the provided popup. Color, flip, linking, alignment, rotating, width control, everything is their that we do with an svg icon! 

The best part, it not load any icon library to display icons, so not create any extra load time on pages, and even if we move the page from a site to another site not having this plugin, it still work, as svg icon code remains :)

It's a good Plugin!
I always coded an Icon Block for myself but this one features everything I need.
Just the classes that are applied from my theme json colors where not right.

But this was no effort for me, I just changed the name of my colors (without _ and no camelCase).

This is one of those lovely plugins, which without bells and whistles simply do, what they promise—in this case to easily insert icons into your posts or pages. 



The plugin uses the wordpress icon library which includes no less than 276 icons in total. As no third party font is used, European users don't need to worry about violation of the GDPR. Instead all icons are provided as scalable svg-icons, hosted from your own website if you use them in your posts and pages. Cool.



You miss an icon or don't like a particular shape? Don't worry. The plugin lets you use your own svg-files (or any free svg-file which you find in the web). And in the unlikely event, this isn't enough, the plugin developer describes in a web page, how you can add your own icon library. How awesome is that?

A couple of ideas to enhance it:




Add hover / focus color: especially useful when a link is defined



Add padding support: so we can set 48px for wrapper and a smaller size for the icon itself



Support for block button: maybe WP 6.5 could allow it but not sure

SVG Block

All required basic settings are available. It's better than "the icon block" in terms of big collection of icons already available in the library, insertion of custom SVG directly in the settings panel, and most important thing to handle any SVG as a section separator for making non-rectangular sections.

And it's also ADA compliance. So a perfect choice when we need to add svg icons on a site.

I was looking for a plugin that made it easier to embed SVG files directly, rather than linking them as an image. This plugin works great. The SVG browser has a bunch of pre-loaded icons, and automatically imports any SVG files you upload as well. The separator shape blocks are a nice touch I didn't even think of.



I'm definitely going to keep using this plugin on other sites. Highly recommended. Thank you for the great plugin!
