Shortcodes can be added to Post Excerpts, Page Titles, Post Titles, Widgets, Widget Titles, Custom Fields, Site Title and Description, not just Pages and Posts as is already provided by WordPress itself. This allows Shortcodes to be used in Sidebars, Menus, Headers, Footers and even the HTML <code><title></code> element that appears in the Title Bar of most browsers.
A Settings page includes checkboxes to select where Shortcodes might appear:

<li>In Browser Title Bar via <code><title></code></li>
<li>In Widgets used in Sidebars, Menus, Headers, Footers, etc.</li>

<li>In Site Title, Description and other bloginfo options</li>
<li>In Page or Post Custom Fields</li>
</ul>
Priority is an Advanced Setting beside each checkbox that controls the timing of the WordPress Filter associated with each Where? setting. This is provided solely to address conflicts with other themes and plugins that use the same WordPress Filter (“hook”).
A default Warning feature, which can be disabled on the Settings page, displays a message at the top of every Admin panel if the plugin is Activated but doing nothing because no Where? checkboxes are selected (other than the mandatory In Pages and In Posts settings).
All Shortcodes are supported by this plugin, no matter whether you are using Shortcodes defined by:

<li>WordPress itself, such as <code>[gallery]</code>, <code>[audio]</code>, <code>[caption]</code>, <code>[embed]</code> or <code>[video]</code></li>
<li>Jetpack Shortcode Embeds</li>
<li>Your Active Theme</li>
<li>Another Plugin, for example, 
Current Year and Copyright Shortcodes</li>
<li>Writing your own Plugin and using the <code>add_shortcode()</code> function</li>
<li>Using a Shortcode creation Plugin, for example, Shortcode Exec PHP</li>
</ul>
Future versions will include more areas of the WordPress web site where Shortcodes may be used, based on the needs of users of this Plugin.
No attempt has been made to allow Shortcodes to be used to display values in Admin panels. This is the default WordPress behaviour, and changing it may have unintended (negative) consequences.
Plugin Developers may find the Table-Driven Design of interest. This was a popular concept in the 1980s and was used in this plugin to simplify the use of WordPress Filters. The two-dimensional global array $jr_saoe_filters is the Table involved.
This plugin was created to satisfy a request from a user of the <a href="https://wordpress.org/plugins/jonradio-current-year-and-copyright-shortcodes/" title="jonradio Current Year and Copyright Shortcodes" rel="ugc">Current Year and Copyright Shortcodes plugin</a> to use these Shortcodes in a Page Title.

Allows Shortcodes to be used nearly everywhere, not just in posts and pages.

The “Enhanced YouTube Shortcode” plugin provides a quick & easy way to use a custom YouTube© player in your posts and/or pages without having to get your hands dirty in the source codes! The main advantage over the way WordPress is working this out is the possibility of changing the display of all players in one single spot instead of having to do it manually at every places it has been set. But most importantly: it’s fun and good for you! (check out the screenshot for a sample of all offered options!)
Now with more than 10 parameters available through a simple configuration page (reach it from the Settings Menu), the code that is generated always allows scripting access and forces the use of the ActionScript 3 engine (see Other Notes for limitations). It has been initially created on a WordPress 3.2.1 live installation & recently tested on a WordPress 3.9.1 live installation with success, according to the specifications of the official <a href="http://code.google.com/intl/fr-CA/apis/youtube/player_parameters.html" title="YouTube Embedded Player Parameters - Google Code" rel="nofollow ugc">YouTube Embed Player API Parameters</a>.
There are a couple of things on the To Do list (see Other Notes) & the developer is back on track with this project so you can expect a major upgrade soon (summer 2014)!
<h3>Limitations</h3>
<ul>

Internet Explorer is not a natural friend of YouTube… Every versions of this browser, from 6 all the way up to 9, have different bugs & even more ways to deal with YouTube videos. So in order to push a video to everyone this plugin will provide a player to Internet Explorer effectively but without other parameters than width & height. All the rest will be the default state of a “regular” YouTube video player. A future version should solve those issues by serving an all javascript player to this browser.

The tests on WordPress 3.9.1 were quick, some features may be not working but this should not affect the plugin responsiveness. All bases will be covered in the next major release of the plugin (v3).

Some WordPress themes that already have a bunch of shortcodes may cause conflicts with this one. Usually a quick look in the doc of your theme & you’ll find a way of injecting “raw” codes in your post without triggering any presets options.
