Protect access to all your media files and implement your own custom file access rules using a hook. Works for apache with mod rewrite or nginx with some custom configuration. No Multisite support. This plugin is more or less a development tool for defining your own custom file access rules.
For nginx you will need to modify the config file as nginx does not handle .htacess files. Add the following code:

<h3>Hooks</h3>
Without a custom hook all file access will be disabled. The user will see the 404 page for all requested files. Adding a hook is needed to handle your own file access rules. A simple example that could go into your functions.php:

The jvm_protected_media_file action has one parameter with the following file information:

How it works
CopySafe Web uses a secure web browser known as <a href="https://artisbrowser.com/download/" rel="nofollow ugc">ArtisBrowser</a> which has been especially designed to copy protect web pages where all other web browsers fail.
When a visitor loads a CopySafe Web <a href="https://artistscope.com/copysafe_web_protection.asp" rel="nofollow ugc">copy protected page</a> their browser is checked for the ArtisBrowser, and if not found, they are redirected to a download page. After installing the ArtisBrowser, the visitor can return to explore your protected web pages.

Implementation
Note: that the WP Classic Editor is required.
Click on the [C] button in the Editor’s toolbar to upload/select and the encrypted image to use. When inserting a CopySafe Web image, the necessary shortcode is automatically inserted at the last cursor postion.
You can upload new image .class files or select from a list of already uploaded .class files. After selecting an image (.class) file you can then set the security options to apply to the page such as:
