Adds two template tags, <code>latest_post_date()</code> and <code>latest_post_modified_date()</code>, the first echoes the most recent post publication date, the second echoes the modification date of the most recently modified post.
Each template tag takes two params: $date_format, standard <a href="https://codex.wordpress.org/Formatting_Date_and_Time" rel="nofollow ugc">WP date formatting string</a> (defaults to the default date formatting for your WP blog), and $echo, display the date, if <code>TRUE</code>, or return the date to be used in PHP, if <code>FALSE</code>, (defaults to <code>TRUE</code>).
For example: <code><?php latest_post_date( 'l, F j, Y', TRUE ); ?></code> would return a date similar to Friday, September 24, 2004 for use in PHP. Another example: <code><?php latest_post_date(); ?></code> would echo a date in the default formatting for your WP blog.

Latest Post Date

Adds two template tags latest_post_date() and latest_post_modified_date().

After activating the plugin, you will have two new template tags at your disposal:
<pre><code><?php previous_archive_link( 'format', 'link' ); ?>
<?php next_archive_link( 'format', 'link' ); ?>

They adapt their output depending on whether the date archive is a day, a month, 
or a year, and they will only output a link for an adjacent time period in which you 
have published posts. Both tags take two string parameters, format and link.
The format parameter defines what comes before and after the link. In it, <code>%link</code> 
will be replaced with whatever is declared in the link parameter below. <code>previous_archive_link</code> 
defaults to “<code>&laquo; %link</code>” and <code>next_archive_link</code> defaults to “<code>%link &raquo;</code>“.
The link parameter defines the link text. Both tags default to “<code>%date</code>“, the 
adjacent archive page’s localized date.
