This plugin connects to the AEO Pulse cloud API at https://woo-aeo.vercel.app to provide its core features (AI search visibility tracking, llms.txt generation, keyword monitoring). The plugin will not function without this service.
What it is and what it is used for:
The AEO Pulse cloud API runs AI keyword monitoring (querying ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity on your behalf from our servers), generates the /llms.txt content from your WooCommerce product catalog, and stores tracked keywords and results so the WordPress admin pages can render them.
What data is sent and when:
<ul>
<li>On plugin activation: site URL and a randomly generated site key are sent to register the site.</li>
<li>On the Settings page when you click “Connect to AEO Pulse”: you enter your WooCommerce REST API Consumer Key and Consumer Secret. These credentials, along with the site URL and site key, are sent to https://woo-aeo.vercel.app/api/auth/connect. They are stored on the AEO Pulse cloud service so it can read your product catalog (read-only) for keyword analysis and llms.txt generation. A JWT auth token is returned and stored locally.</li>
<li>When opening the Keywords or LLMs.txt admin pages: the locally stored JWT is sent to fetch your keyword list and llms.txt content.</li>
<li>When you add or remove a keyword: the keyword text (or its ID for deletion) is sent.</li>
<li>When you click “Regenerate” on the LLMs.txt page: the request triggers the cloud service to read your products via the stored Consumer Key/Secret and rebuild the file.</li>
<li>When the public /llms.txt URL on your site is requested by a visitor: site URL and site key are sent to fetch the cached content.</li>
<li>During scheduled keyword monitoring (Pro only): tracked keywords are sent to our servers, which then query AI providers and return results.</li>
</ul>
No customer data, order data, or payment information is ever sent. Product data accessed via the WooCommerce REST API is limited to public-facing fields (name, description, price, URL).

Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK)
HiveEO uses your own API keys (Gemini, OpenAI, Perplexity). Keys are stored in your WordPress database. AI generation requests are routed through the haiv3.com relay service (see External Services below) which fetches the prompt template and returns it to your server — your API key is then used on your server to call the AI provider directly.

This plugin connects to the following external services:
1. Google Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) 
Used to generate community comments, seed threads, AI product descriptions, and visibility probe responses. Requests are made only when you click a generate button — never automatically. Your Gemini API key is sent directly from your WordPress server to Google. Data sent includes your prompt text (business context, product details, thread content). See Google’s <a href="https://policies.google.com/privacy" rel="nofollow ugc">Privacy Policy</a> and <a href="https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms" rel="nofollow ugc">Terms of Service</a>.
2. OpenAI API (api.openai.com) 
Used optionally in the Visibility Tracker to probe ChatGPT responses. Only used if you add an OpenAI API key in Settings. See OpenAI’s <a href="https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy" rel="nofollow ugc">Privacy Policy</a> and <a href="https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use" rel="nofollow ugc">Terms of Service</a>.
3. Perplexity API (api.perplexity.ai) 
Used optionally in the Visibility Tracker to probe Perplexity responses. Only used if you add a Perplexity API key in Settings. 4. Reddit API (reddit.com) 
Used in the Threads tab to fetch live trending threads from relevant subreddits. Requests are made only when you click “Refresh live threads” — never automatically. No personal data is sent. Data received includes public post titles, scores, and URLs. 5. Hacker News API (hacker-news.firebaseio.com)

<h3>Local Data Storage</h3>
AI Bot Visit Log 
The plugin optionally logs visits from known AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, etc.) to your site. This data is stored entirely within your own WordPress database — no data is sent to any external service. Each log entry stores: the bot name, the URL visited, the timestamp, and a 12-character hash of the visitor IP address (derived using your site’s WordPress salt — the original IP is never stored). This log is used only to display AI crawler activity in the Infrastructure panel.
