Linkable is a lightweight WordPress plugin that automates internal linking by converting defined keywords into links to selected posts or pages.
Core functionality: 
* Automatically links keywords to chosen posts or pages 
* Works on singular posts and pages by filtering <code>the_content</code> at priority 20 
* Searches for keyword matches inside <code></code>, <code><li></code>, <code></code>, <code></code>, and <code></code> tags 
* Skips self-links by excluding the current post from the keyword map 
* Uses the Yoast SEO title for link tooltips when Yoast is active, otherwise falls back to the WordPress title 
* Preserves existing <code><a></code> tags and shortcodes by backing them up before processing and restoring them afterward
Keyword management: 
* Keywords are stored per post and per page as JSON in the <code>linkable_tags</code> post meta field 
* <code>linkable_tags</code> is registered with REST support, sanitized via <code>sanitize_text_field</code>, and restricted to users with <code>edit_posts</code>
Settings: 
* Accessible via Settings → Linkable 
* <code>max_links_per_target</code>: limits how many times the same target can be linked from one post (default 1) 
* <code>first_occurrence_only</code>: when enabled, each keyword is linked only once per post
Performance: 
* Builds a global keyword map from all published posts and pages with <code>linkable_tags</code> 
* Caches the keyword map with a transient (<code>global_linkable_tag_map</code>) for one hour 
* Query optimized to fetch only IDs and avoid unnecessary meta/term caching
Editor compatibility: 
* Works with both the block editor and the classic editor 
* Enqueues an admin sidebar panel script (<code>static/js/admin-sidebar-panel.js</code>) with WordPress dependencies and versioning via <code>filemtime</code>
Security: 
* URLs are properly escaped with <code>esc_url</code> 
* Link titles are sanitized and HTML-escaped 
* Meta registration includes capability and sanitization checks

This plugin allows you to define words or phrases that, whenever they appear in your posts or pages, get automatically linked to the URLs of your choosing. For instance, wherever you may mention the word “WordPress”, that can get automatically linked as “<a href="https://wordpress.org" rel="ugc">WordPress</a>“.
Additional features of the plugin controlled via settings and filters:

<li>Text linkification can be enabled for comments (it isn’t by default)</li>
<li>Text linkification can be made case sensitive (it isn’t by default)</li>
<li>Text linkification can be limited to doing only one linkification per term, per post (by default, all occurrences of a term are linkified)</li>

You can also link multiple terms to the same link and only define that link once in the settings via use of a special link syntax.

<h3>Hooks</h3>
The plugin exposes a number of filters for hooking. Typically, code making use of filters should ideally be put into a mu-plugin or site-specific plugin (which is beyond the scope of this readme to explain). Bear in mind that most of the features controlled by these filters are configurable via the plugin’s settings page. These filters are likely only of interest to advanced users able to code.
c2c_linkify_text_filters (filter)
The ‘c2c_linkify_text_filters’ hook allows you to customize what hooks get text linkification applied to them.
Arguments:

The ‘c2c_linkify_text_case_sensitive’ hook allows you to customize or override the setting indicating if text matching for potential text linkification should be case sensitive or not.

The ‘c2c_linkify_text_linked_text’ hook allows you to customize or override the replacement link markup for a given string. Return the value of $old_text to effectively prevent the given text linkification.

<li>$old_text (string): The text being replaced/linkified.</li>
