<p><strong>Idea Behind / Philosophy:</strong> Just a little leightweight plugin for all WordPress users out there to make their maps look better. I’ll try to add more plugin/theme support and more plugin option over time. So stay tuned.</p>


Map Me

Unlike all other insanely advanced google maps plugins that have not got any of their features working smoothly, this one does as long as you do what the author says.

Usability wise this plugin is less powerful as it is technically. That's why I'm leaving you here with the following feedback:

- Try to implement validations with well explained error messages. For example at the settings page you have to make sure the user enters location parameters to center the map on but none of those fields are required.
- Make sure you show/explain/give the user all information to make the user aware of the capabilities the user got. For example you simply display a text area at the short description field when adding a location marker. But you can enter HTML there so why don't you show the WYSIWYG editor included with WordPress or give a little hint?

Features I would change/remove are:
- Selecting a predefined map style, why not store the "snazzymaps" configuration in the database and shortly tell users how they can do it their self. I know this is not making it easier but customizability is way more important here. You can also do both :)
- Center map on the specified address. Why not center on a long/lat coordinate or on the center of the (selected) marker locations

<h4>How can I use these functions?</h4>

<li>You could choose the currency of the store based on the country name</li>
<li>You could pre-fill the shipping country</li>
<li>You could show the store nearest to your customer</li>
<li>You show or hide content specific to a geographic target group</li>
<li>Etc. … You tell me! I’m rather curious what you’ll do with this plugin!</li>
<li>Be careful to comply to the applicable laws. For example Regulation (EU) 2018/302 …</li>
<li>If you need to get the user’s timezone, it is more accurate to use JS solutions.</li>

<h3>Troubleshooting</h3>
<ul>
<li>Does <code>geoip_detect2_get_info_from_current_ip()</code> return the same country, regardless of where you are visiting the site from? </li>
<li>Maybe your server has a reverse proxy configured. You can check this: Go to the options page and look for “reverse proxy”. Are there 2 IPs listed there? If so, which one corresponds to your <a href="https://www.whatismyip.com/" rel="nofollow ugc">public IP</a>?</li>
<li>Or maybe you are using a site cache plugin. Then enable the option <code>Disable caching a page that contains a shortcode or API call to geo-dependent functions.</code></li>
