<p>This plugin provides a simple <code>[meta]</code> shortcode that allows you to fetch meta information for the current <code>$post</code>.<br />
There are options to return a single value, multiple values joined by a user defined string, or a JSON string.</p>
<p><strong>Examples:</strong></p>

<p>This will return the value of “your_meta_field”. If the value is an array, it will return a comma separated list, unless you specify an alternative join string.</p>

<p>By default, [meta] will return a single value. If you have multiple meta fields with the same name, you can get them all by setting single=”false”.</p>

<p>This will return the JSON encoded value of “your_meta_field”.</p>

<p>By default, the value will be passed to do_shortcode, unless you turn if off.</p>

<p>There are a couple filters available if you want to filter the value. They are called after do_shortcode and before any JSON/array handling.<br />
They are on be default, but can be turned of with filters=”false”. The filters are “meta_fetcher_value” and “meta_fetcher_{$name}”.</p>

<h4>Usage</h4>
<ul>
<li>On the page/post edit screen, press “Add citation”.</li>
<li>Fill in <em>at least</em> the Publication or Title fields and save/update.</li>
<li>On pages/posts with citations, Citation Manager will output them after the<br />
content.</li>
<li>If a URL element is provided, it will be applied to the Title if present or<br />
to the Publication if not.</li>
<li>Press “Delete citation” and save/update to remove a citation.</li>
<li>Use Settings->Citation Manager to alter the text/HTML to come before and<br />
after the citation list.</li>
<li>You can also configure the presence of the <code>target="_blank"</code> attribute in<br />
links to external sites when citations are listed, causing those links to<br />
open in a new browser window. </li>

<li><code>[citation-count-total]</code> outputs an integer indicating the total number of<br />
citations to all content on the site</li>
<li><code>[citation-count]</code> outputs an integer indicating the total number of<br />
citations to the present page or post</li>
<li><code>[citation-dump]</code> outputs a nested unordered list of page/post titles and<br />
citations to them</li>
