WordPress networks can consist of many different sites which are usually kept separate. With this plugin the network admin and the site admins can change that and display content from other sites in the same network as well.
All sites can be categorized in any number of categories to allow structure and grouping. Also each site now can enter its own description to provide the reader with more detailed information about the site.
Finally the content can be displayed in multiple ways. There are three shortcodes that offer a high flexibility in parameters and filters to display a list of sites with the most recent posts on any other site. Going further the plugin adds a new rss that aggregates posts of all sites or only certain categories. It also adds a custom feed builder which allows each user to build a customized feed with only the sites she or he is interested in.
Currently there are three shortcodes available:
<h4>Network Overview</h4>
Shortcode: <code>[netview]</code>
Description: Displays a rather detailed overview of a specified set of sites. Can include images and most recent posts. Offers two layouts and two ways of sorting them.
Options:
<ul>
<li><code>include</code> (optional, defaults: all available) expects a comma separated list of site ids. It will only will list these sites.</li>
<li><code>exclude</code> (optional) expects a comma separated list of site ids. It will list all sites except the listed ones.</li>
<li><code>category</code> (optional) expects a comma separated list of category ids. Only sites within these categories will be displayed, regardless of the include parameter. The exclude parameter will still apply.</li>
<li><code>numposts</code> (optional, default: 2) expects a positive number or zero. Limits the number of most recent published posts displayed.</li>
<li><code>sort</code> (optional, default: ‘abc’) expects either ‘abc’ or ‘posts’. ‘abc’ means alphabetical sorting. ‘posts’ will sort the sites according to their most recent post.</li>
<li><code>layout</code> (optional, default: ‘table’) expects either ‘grid’ or ‘table’. Defines the layout of the list. Grid uses two columns. Table uses one row per site.</li>
<li><code>images</code> (optional, default: ‘true’) expects either ‘true’ or ‘false’. Defines whether header images of the sites are displayed if available.</li>
<li><code>rss</code> (optional, default: ‘true’) expects either ‘true’ or ‘false’. Defines whether a custom rss feed link should be displayed.</li>
<li><code>minposts</code> (optional, default: 0) expects a positive number or zero. Defines a limit of posts a site must have published in order to be shown.</li>
<li><code>post_types</code> (optional) additional post_types that are taken into consideration and displayed, type ‘post’ is always included.</li>

Example:

Lists all visible sites in a grid layout without images and with the three most recent posts. The list is sorted by the site with the most recent post first.
<h4>Network Single View</h4>
Shortcode: <code>[netview-single]</code>
Description: Displays one site with a custom image and in a more prominent way.
<h4>Network Index</h4>

Description: Displays all visible sites in form of an index in alphabetical order without any additional information.

Sometimes in a website the articles are not authored by the respective registered users but still need to be attributed to them somehow.
This plugin addresses this specific situation and offers a way to deal with it.
The idea is that articles are tagged with the names of people to which they should be attributed. 
Thus, when making an author’s bio page a shortcode can be inserted that will show a list of articles authored by or attributed to a registered user. 
If the user later registers using the same name and starts publishing his/her own posts, they will auto-magically be inserted in his bio page.
The shortcode is:

post_types is optional and may contain one of or both keywords 
posts_per_page is optional and specifies how many posts to display
There is no support for pagination so the only way of limiting very long pages is to use the posts_per_page parameter.
The plugin solves a very specific problem of a very specific website. It may be useful to someone else too.
A single translation file is provided for it_IT.
There are two other, unrelated, shortcodes included.
Age calculation

Calculates the age (in years) since a reference date. The age is calculated until the current moment, unless end_date is specified. 
This is meant to show ages of people (possibly at the time of their death) but may also be used for other events that have a start and maybe an end date.
ref_date is the date (typically in the past) to which the age refers 
end_date is optional and represents the date up to which the age is calculated (typically in the past too but may also be in the future)
Time machine

Allows altering the text of the post based on the current moment relative to a reference moment.
Suppose a post is published before an event, is should refer to that event in terms of the future. 
However, after the time of the event (the reference time) has passed, the same post should refer to the event in terms of the past. 
This simple change avoids the post looking stale until you manually edit it to maybe add post-event information.
ref_time is the date and time of the event; up until midnight after the event it will show the future_text, then the past_text 
future_text is the text to show while the event is still in the future 
past_text is the text to show when the event is in the past
