Some WordPress audio plugins inject JavaScript into every page of your website, even pages that don’t have any audio on them. PlayPress doesn’t need any JavaScript.
Other plugins rely on Adobe’s displeasing Flash technology. PlayPress can fall back or default to HTML5 audio – without any JavaScript voodoo wizardry.
Other plugins can play videos and make you tea. PlayPress has a laser focus on just one thing: it lets you put an audio player in blog posts and pages.
You use a standard WordPress shortcode like this:

Users of most modern browsers will see a native HTML5 audio player. In older browsers, an adequate Flash-based one will be shown.
You don’t even need an Ogg Vorbis file:

In this case, PlayPress will first attempt to show the Flash player. If Flash isn’t installed, readers will see the HTML5 audio player – but it won’t work in Firefox or Opera. (Most Firefox and Opera users should have Flash installed.)
In either case, if neither Flash nor HTML5 are supported by the browser, users will see a link to download the audio file. Graceful degradation.
Optionally, specify a title and/or artist for display in the Flash player (this will override the ID3 metadata embedded in your MP3 file, which is otherwise used if present):

Skip to Timestamp allows two ways of generating links in your posts that automatically skip to a given time 
in an embedded media element. You’ve seen it in the Youtube descriptions, now get it in your embeds!
To create a link, either:
<ul>
<li>Use our [skipto] shortcode which takes a “time” (or “timestamp” or “ts”) argument and uses that to create a link. 
Eg, “Just wait until…or…hold on, you can [skipto time=4:30]skip to[/skipto] this part of the video!”</li>
<li>Check the “Replace Timestamps Automatically” checkbox in the Settings > Skip to Timestamp, and watch as all your 
timestamps in the form “4:30” or “1:23:45” are automatically converted into links.</li>
</ul>
The links search for and skip to a time in:
<ul>
<li>Youtube videos embedded using WordPress embeds. Make sure you’re just pasting in the Youtube video link into your post editor and let WordPress embed things for you to ensure that the correct player is inserted into your post.</li>
<li>HTML5 <audio> elements. Jetpack, Blubrry Powerpress and other plugins do this automatically using the [audio] shortcode.</li>
<li>HTML5 <video> elements. Jetpack and other plugins do this automatically using the [video] shortcode.</li>

This is one of my favorite plugins to recommend to Blubrry PowerPress users who are looking for a way to link to specific sections of their episodes from within the show notes. This plugin is maintained regularly and the code is well written. Thanks @doytch!



Works great with PowerPress

I recently noticed the JS for this on the boagworld podcast, same JS signatures, and works with a plugin I authored for media-playback-speed, so I'm very happy at the focused, long-term success of this plugin.

I'm quite interested in using data-attributes rather than an onclick handler as then I can more easily use, so if you have a repo URL I can PR to, I'd be even happier.
