“Post Hit Counter” does what it says on the tin – it counts how many hits your posts receive. Hit counts are displayed in a new column in the post list table, in the submit box on the post edit screen and in the admin bar on the frontend.

This plugin was initially created as a demo for <a href="http://2014.capetown.wordcamp.org/session/building-your-first-wordpress-plugin/" rel="nofollow ugc">a workshop</a> I ran at WordCamp Cape Town 2014. I have since fleshed it out and enhanced it to be more useful.

WordPress Hit Counter is a simple plugin that embeds a rotating odometer style hit counter on your blog showing how many visitors your site has.
The plugin allows you to choose from a number of different styles, it can be embedded in the footer or activated as a sidebar widget. 
By default it will display in your footer, to change these settings simply activate it as a widget in your themes appearance section and change the options there.
