<p><strong>Auto SKU Generator</strong> takes the hassle out of creating SKUs for your WooCommerce products. Instead of manually typing a SKU for every product, this plugin automatically generates structured, unique SKUs based on your product’s category and ID.</p>
<h4>How It Works</h4>
<p>When you create or save a WooCommerce product without a SKU, Auto SKU Generator automatically assigns one using a consistent format:</p>
<p><strong>[Prefix][Product ID][Suffix]</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The <strong>prefix</strong> is derived from the product’s category ID (zero-padded to 3 digits) or a custom prefix you define per category.</li>
<li>The <strong>product ID</strong> portion is zero-padded to fill the remaining SKU length.</li>
<li>A trailing digit is appended to ensure uniqueness in case of collisions.</li>

<p>Respect to other SKU generators, we needed a simple tool that produces a very short SKU code, to be easily written even on a barcode.</p>
<p>Usage is very simple.</p>
<ul>
<li>Assign a SKU to the main product (e.g. “089”)</li>
<li>Search the autoSKU (wheel) icon on the right side of the SKU field.</li>
<li>Click on the autoSKU icon. </li>
<li>Check the SKU (e.g. “089a”, “089b”, …) assigned to each variations.</li>
</ul>
<p>It doesn’t overwrite existent SKUs.<br />
It works only for variable product.</p>
