siteground installed this plugin plugin automatically when 7.0 rolled out, without my consent. That’s a huge security issue and I’ll be moving hosts.

Siteground have no right to add plugins to my sites, and certainly not without my consent, without any notification and without the ability to opt-out.



I am paying you to provide hosting, not so you can randomly deploy your own software onto my domains. I find it wholly unnacceptable that you've done this, and can’t believe that anyone internally signed this off as acceptable.

I found this plugin installed, activated and connected to SiteGround AI Studio on all my WordPress sites, without a clear explicit opt-in from me.



This is not acceptable.



I manage client websites, including WooCommerce stores, and I need full control over every plugin and external connector added to them.



An AI agent connected to WordPress is not a minor feature. It should be something users actively choose to install and connect, not something they discover afterwards.



I removed it from my sites.



The problem is not AI. The problem is trust. This should be strictly opt-in.


Auto-installed, auto-activated and auto-connected. Why?


This plugin has been installed and activated on all my Siteground-hosted sites without my authorization or even knowledge.



Once confronted about this, Siteground support tried to lie about it, stating that they did send out a notice and allowed users to opt out. That is a lie, nothing beyond default update notice for 7.0 WP Core update was sent. 



Initially the support refused to clean up this mess, trying to shift the burden on me, but after some pushback agreed to remove the plugin themselves. As of time of publication this has not happened yet.



I believe this plugin should be banned from the repository for trying to game usage stats by sneakily boosting user numbers without site owners' consent. It might even qualify as a cybersecurity incident.


Unauthorized installation and activation


Again, another voice to the hundreds to say this plugin was auto installed, connected and setup without consent. There was an email saying so, but yeah not great.

THIS WAS AUTO INSTALLED ON MY SIITE! I DID NOT ASK OR WANT FOR THIS TO BE INSTALLED EVER!!!



You need to give the clients the ability to opt-in to having this plugin on their site, not just opt-in everyone if you have hosting services with SiteGround! That is very very bad! 



It also was unstable and caused an error to be displayed in the WP Admin. I removed it immediately and installed a plugin to disable all Wordpress AI features. Removing the plugin caused the error to go away and all related errors in the debug log have been resolved.



I do not trust SiteGround anymore.


Did not ask for this to be installed automatically


You should never, ever FREAKING EVER!!! install a plugin on an existing site without the customer's permission!!!!! 



Additionally, it broke the website with fatal errors.



Siteground has really gone down the tubes in the last bunch of years. They were THE BEST when they launched, now I struggle to recommend them at all.



Note the only acceptable reply to this is, "We are sorry. We will not do something like this again."

It raises real concerns around privacy, compliance, data handling, user trust, accessibility, security review, and governance. Anything AI-related needs to be intentionally evaluated before it is added to a production website. Absolute joke of a decision.
