A simple plugin for rendering latest post previews in a list view using shortcode. 
Supports various options to customize output to your needs.

<li>featured_image_height: , height of featured image in px (default=100)</li>
<li>preview_text_chars: , amount of chars to be displayed for preview text (default=200)</li>
<li>container_css_class: , CSS class of outer container (default=articles-preview-container)</li>
<li>container_article_css_class: , CSS class of article containe (default=article-preview)</li>
<li>append_css_clear: , whether to append a CSS clear container (default=TRUE)</li>
<li>container_left_width: , px or % (default=65%)</li>
<li>container_right_width: , px or % (default=30%)</li>

Simple Latest Posts Shortcode

A simple plugin for rendering latest post previews in a list view using shortcode.

Requires BuddyPress.
Allows a page or post to display the most recently logged in members with how long since they last did any activity on the site. Options include showing a link to Private Message the member if logged in, the field to display as the members name and so on.

All options:

To change the number of members shown (defaults to 5):
[hts-displaymembers count=10]

To change the displayed field (defaults to Display Name):
[hts-displaymembers count=10 display=user_nicename]

You can use any field in the wp_users table or wp_usermeta table, for example:

To change the size of the avatar (defaults to 50px):

To not display the email icon (default to true):
