<p>Add a Table of Contents block to your posts and pages. The TOC is a nested list of links to all heading found in the post or page. To use it, simply add a block and search for “SimpleTOC” or just “TOC”.</p>
<p>The maximum depth of the toc can be configured in in the blocks’ sidebar among many other options. There can hide the headline “Table of Contents” and add your own by using a normal heading block.</p>

This is the simplest plugin which works perfectly what it is meant for.

<p>I like the plugin a lot. It's simple. It works pretty well and has a few configurations but not too many. Thanks for it!<br />(I am using it to learn Wordpress blocks development, which coming from PHP I think it's quite a challenge. Blocks change the development weight from PHP to JS/React a lot!)</p>

Simple TOC it's just ... simple


Creating and maintaining a plugin requires a significant amount of effort and dedication. It is not a task that can be undertaken by everyone, as it requires an individual with a genuine interest and energy to deliver a product that evolves from being good enough to becoming a perfect product.



We encountered some challenges while using your plugin, but we were pleased to discover that the issue was addressed before we could even report it. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your active development efforts, which have resulted in the release of version 6.0.2.


Lightweight, effective, actively-maintained


I tested 8-10 table of contents plugins for keyboard and screen reader accessibility and this plugin was by far the best. There was one issue with the accordion that caused a problem for screen reader users, so I opened a support forum thread and the developer released a fix within a few hours. Wow!



This plugin is easy to use, has great HTML markup, and it's refreshing to find a developer who takes accessibility seriously. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Don't even look for another table of contents plugin.

If you add this block/plugin and try to use Back to Top feature in GeneratePress it will turn something that works into something that takes 15s to scroll to very top.



At first I thought maybe I needed to create a function to change the speed but nope, it's this plugin....

This is an excellent plugin that easily adds table of contents in your posts / pages and it provides links to the relevant headings.



Does exactly what I want and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for an easy to use tale of contents block plugin.

Great plugin that works really well


Comparing this to the "Table Of Contents Block" by WPDeveloper, I prefer this one because:




It just works automatically.



It has less options, but just enough to do what you need.



It adds nothing to the frontend to cause bloat. No CSS, no JS. At least not right out of the box. Additional settings can be enabled that will add these, but it's nice that we have the option!




This is an example of what a well-written plugin should be.

<p>The <em>Directory Index Guard</em> plugin works by updating the Apache .htaccess file to include the directive Options -Indexes.  It prevents you from having to edit it yourself via FTP or some other mechanism.</p>

<p><strong>What is a Web Server Directory Listing?</strong></p>
<p>A web server directory listing, commonly called a directory index, is a list of the contents in a folder stored on your WordPress server. Similar to your local computer directory, a web server has a directory structure for storing files and folders.  If directory listings are turned on, the server will show all files and subfolders contained in that directory.   The files can be viewed or downloaded, and you can move into and out of subfolders like you would on your local computer.</p>
<p><strong>Why is this dangerous?</strong></p>
<p>Often times, backups of critical WordPress configuration files are made before making changes and then stored in a directory on the server.  These backup can potentially contain your WordPress administrator or database password.  The source code for plugins, themes, and administrative functions are also stored in directories on the server.  None of these files are intended for public viewing.  Hackers can use directory listings to download these files and create a road map of how to exploit vulnerabilities in your site.  If they contain your WordPress administrator password, your entire site and all of your customer data is at risk.  To make this worse, hackers can scan these files with a script, on thousands of websites at a time, and hack your site or sell the information on the dark web.  Common identity theft programs may not scan for WordPress configuration passwords.  Turning off directory listings is absolutely critical for the security of your site.</p>
