Smooth SMTP gives you full control over how WordPress sends email. Configure SMTP as your primary sending method, set up a fallback for when things go wrong, get notified through your preferred channels, and keep a detailed log of every email your site sends.
Primary Sending Method (SMTP)
Configure any SMTP provider as your primary sending method. If you leave SMTP disabled, WordPress will continue using its default PHP mail — either way, all other features still work.

MailerSend – Official SMTP Integration

I'm using MailerSend as transactional email provider because they offer some great features that other providers don't have. Beside this they have a great deliverability, sending speed and the MailerSend interface is really nice.
The plugin does a good job, but it's much to basic in my opinion. I'm missing features like: - Import / export settings - Custom email headers - a simple log file (now I need to check every issue via the MailerSend portal)
And why sending emails via SMTP and not via the MailerSend API?

Basic features only, I need more to use the plugin for more projects
