Real-world membership site examples

Retailers drive recurring revenue by offering store discounts for members. Sell a $99 per year membership and give members 10% off your store. Use memberships to create loyal customers and dependable recurring revenue.

Publishers create content paywalls to sign up new subscribers for access to articles or blog posts. They can even use content dripping for access to older content, so members unlock access over time, vs getting everything at signup.

Podcasts can protect their recordings or videos to provide extra content to subscribers, boosting support for a free podcast or show.

Communities or companies create locked, member-only stores (or categories) that require membership to make purchases. Use exclusivity to keep your members happy, or to drive new subscriptions that unlock special access.

Online educators protect their course content and drip out access to new lessons over time. They can even offer products, forums, supplementary videos, or certifications only to learners.

Guilds or hobby communities connect their members by creating private listings of all members who have signed up, with their content information. Some even create private forums, boards, or direct messages1 to help members get in touch with one another.

B2B sellers can create discounts for wholesalers, to give them a percentage discount on all purchases throughout the store. Constellation works seamlessly alongside tiered discount plugins, too (like Dynamic Pricing) so you can also create quantity-based discounts.

Event sites can require free sign up to get early access to tickets, or keep the best seats available to members only by protecting product purchases.

1We recommend using bbPress or BuddyPress (both free!) to offer enhanced member communities. Constellation supports both of them out of the box.

Constellation – Memberships

The complete WooCommerce Memberships extension for WordPress. Build membership sites, online courses, and loyalty programs that integrate perfectly with your store.

Before purchasing this add-on, you will first need to purchase and install WooCommerce Subscriptions.

Capture Every Type of Buyer — With One Product Page

Not every shopper is ready to commit to a subscription on their first visit. Some want to try a product before they commit. Others already know they want it regularly and are looking for the best deal. With Buy Once or Subscribe for WooCommerce Subscriptions, you don’t have to choose which customer to cater to — you can serve them both, from a single product page, without complex setups or duplicate listings.

Take a natural skincare brand as an example. A first-time visitor lands on a moisturiser product page and isn’t quite sure yet — they pick the one-time purchase option to try it out. A returning customer who already loves the product sees the subscription option offering a 15% discount and switches to a monthly plan on the spot. A third customer adds the moisturiser directly to an existing subscription they already have, without ever leaving the product page. Three different buyers, three different needs — all handled seamlessly, with no extra SKUs, no separate product listings, and no support tickets.

The result? Higher conversion rates, more predictable recurring revenue, and a shopping experience that meets customers exactly where they are.

With Buy Once or Subscribe, your store can:

Create subscription plans for your existing simple and variable products

Set global subscription plans (for entire product categories)

Create subscription plans for each product or product variation

Sell simple or variable products as subscriptions from the same product page

Use the same product SKU for one-time purchases and subscriptions

Add percentage or value discounts to subscription plans to incentivise customers

(NEW) Add products to an existing subscription from the product page

(NEW) Allow customers to change plans on the cart page

(NEW) Subscription availability period

This is a WooCommerce Subscriptions add-on/extension

This extension requires that subscription functionality first be enabled on your website.

Who Is This For?

Perfect for: subscription box stores, beauty and skincare brands, food and beverage businesses, supplement and wellness stores, pet supply shops, digital product sellers, and any WooCommerce store looking to grow predictable monthly recurring revenue without rebuilding their product catalogue.

How can your business benefit?

Turn Any Product Into a Recurring Revenue Stream

Buy Once or Subscribe works with your existing WooCommerce products — no rebuilding your catalogue, no duplicate pages. Simply define your subscription plans and start offering recurring billing alongside one-time purchases on the same product page, from today.

Give Every Customer the Option That Suits Them

Some shoppers want to try before they commit. Others already know they want a product regularly and are looking for the best value. By presenting both options together, you remove friction at the point of purchase and capture buyers you would otherwise lose — whether they’re ready to subscribe or just testing the waters.

Easily create and sell subscription boxes in your online store

Buy Once or Subscribe for WooCommerce Subscriptions is fully integrated with the Product Bundles and Composite Products extensions. This gives you the possibility of creating and selling subscription boxes.

Let Customers Add Products to an Existing Subscription in One Click (NEW)

Give subscribers a fast, frictionless way to grow their order without leaving the product page. Customers can add new items directly to an active subscription with a single click — no cart juggling, no support tickets, and no lost sales.

Increase Subscription Sign-Ups With Built-In Discount Incentives

Show customers exactly how much they save by choosing a subscription over a one-time purchase. Offer percentage or fixed value discounts on any subscription plan to make the recurring option the obvious choice. Customers can also compare both options on the cart page and switch plans before they check out.

Scale Subscription Plans Across Your Entire Catalogue

Define subscription plans globally across product categories, per individual product, or per product variation. Whether you’re running a ten-product store or a catalogue of hundreds, you can roll out flexible subscription pricing at whatever level makes sense for your business.

Manage One-Time and Subscription Sales Without Extra SKUs

Sell the same product as a one-time purchase and as a subscription using a single SKU. No duplicated product listings, no inventory complications, and no extra management overhead — just a cleaner catalogue and a smoother experience for you and your customers.

Get More From Your Subscriptions — Bundle and Save 10%

Buy Once or Subscribe helps you convert one-time buyers into subscribers. The Self-service Dashboard for WooCommerce Subscriptions. helps you keep them.

Once a customer is subscribed, the Self-Service Dashboard gives them the freedom to manage their own subscription — pausing it, changing the next payment date, updating quantities, swapping product variations, and more — all without contacting your support team.

The result is fewer cancellations, fewer support tickets, and a higher Customer Lifetime Value across your entire subscriber base.
