<p>This plugin connects your WordPress site to a Web-Tracking.eu account<br />
(https://web-tracking.eu). After saving your Site ID in the plugin settings,<br />
the plugin injects the tracking script tag into the <code><head></code> of your<br />
front-end pages.</p>
<p>The plugin itself does not collect or transmit any data. It only outputs a<br />
     tag pointing to your configured Web-Tracking.eu endpoint.</p>
<h4>What this plugin does</h4>
<ul>
<li>Adds a settings page under Settings <span aria-hidden="true" class="wp-exclude-emoji">→</span> Web-Tracking.eu where you can paste your Site ID</li>
<li>Injects the tracking script tag on front-end pages when a Site ID is configured</li>
<li>Optionally skips the script when the visitor is a logged-in administrator or editor</li>
<li>Optionally accepts a comma-separated list of URL path prefixes to mark as excluded (passed as a <code>data-exclude</code> attribute on the script tag for the tracker to read)</li>
<li>Optionally accepts a custom domain so the script can be loaded from your own subdomain (requires a CNAME you set up separately at your DNS provider)</li>

<li>It does not modify your post content, templates, or theme files</li>
<li>It does not write to the <code>wp_options</code> table beyond a single settings entry</li>

<p>This plugin does not collect, store, or transmit any data on its own. It<br />
only outputs a <code><script></code> tag that loads the Web-Tracking.eu tracking<br />
script from the URL configured in your settings. Any data handling<br />
performed by the loaded script is governed by the Web-Tracking.eu<br />
privacy policy at https://web-tracking.eu/privacy.</p>

<h3>Privacy</h3>
<p>The Hits List stores post view counts locally in the <code>hits_list</code> and <code>hits_list_daily</code> database tables (table prefix may vary).</p>
<p>It does not send tracking data to a third-party analytics service.</p>
<p>Daily tracking buckets are retained for 180 days by default and older rows are removed automatically.</p>
<p>You are responsible for describing your use of visitor analytics on your own site as needed.</p>
<h3>Source Code and Build Tools</h3>
<p>The compiled block assets in <code>blocks/popular-posts/build/</code> are generated from the human-readable source files included in <code>blocks/popular-posts/src/</code>.</p>
<p>To rebuild the block assets:</p>
<ol>
<li>Go to <code>blocks/popular-posts/</code>.</li>
<li>Run <code>npm install</code>.</li>
<li>Run <code>npm run build</code>.</li>
</ol>
<p>The block build uses <code>@wordpress/scripts</code>. Runtime PHP, vanilla JavaScript, and CSS assets outside the block build are maintained directly in the plugin source.</p>
