Installation

Installing “Affiliate Link Checker” can be done either by searching for “Affiliate Link Checker” via the “Plugins > Add New” screen in your WordPress dashboard, or by using the following steps:

  1. Download the plugin via WordPress.org
  2. Upload the ZIP file through the ‘Plugins > Add New > Upload’ screen in your WordPress dashboard
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress

What should I use the general settings for?

In this section, you can configure the way you want URLs to be checked.

Methods are the way you want the plugin to We provide the following methods:

  • Exact Match: In case you want to check only one specific URL.
    i.e: https://affiliatelink.com/123456
  • URLs containing: Will check all the URLs that contain the string you include in value. Particularly useful if you have a designated path for your affiliate links.
    i.e: https://yourdomain.com/go/
  • Regex (advanced): If you have a regular expression you would like to create with regex, use this option.
    i.e: (http:\/\/|https:\/\/)?[a-z0-9]+([-.]{1}[a-z0-9]+).[a-z]{2,5}(:[0-9]{1,5})?(\/.)?

If you want to check all your external links, do not include any value.

What the use of the Notification tab?

In this section you can setup how you want to be notified. Currently, you can be notified via:

  • Slack: See HERE how to setup your slack hook.
  • Email: The email you want to be notified to about broken links.

You can also configure here the frequency of the check.

By default, you’ll only be notified once a day if your links are working. Although, you’ll be notified anytime there’s something wrong with any of your links.
