Description

ILC Thickbox will parse your post content looking for images with the class ilctb. When found, it will display the image within a thumbnail and when clicked it will launch the original size image using Thickbox.

The modal dialog and the thumbnail wrapper is currently handled by ThickBox, which requires jQuery. Both Thickbox and jQuery are safely loaded from the versions included with WordPress using wp_enqueue_script.

This software is provided without warranty of any kind.

Installation

  1. Upload ilc-thickbox to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. You can access the options page via the Admin navigation menu or the plugins list, using the Settings link.
  4. Edit a post/page, upload an image in the usual way with the Add Image button and insert a thumbnail or a medium size. A full size also works but it wouldn’t make sense to use Thickbox.
  5. There’s a new button on the TinyMCE editor, select the inserted image and click it. Now that image will be managed by ILC Thickbox. Click it again to disable ILC Thickbox on the image. There’s also a shortcut added for your convenience, Alt+Ctrl+X.

Frequently Asked Questions

?Can I change the size of the thumbnail?

Sure, go to the plugin options page and edit the css file. The options page itself has some instructions about the different classes.

I don’t want the magnifier glass icon or I want to change it

Head over to the options page and edit the background property of the ilc-thumb-zoom class. I’ve added two icons, mg.png (a gray icon) and mgblue.png (a light blue icon), just change the name of the image on the edit field.

I don’t know CSS, can you place some user friendly controls to set width, height and icon?

If I get feedback that you would rather edit the css in a visual way I will remove the CSS editing and place instead a few controls to set width, height, a zoom icon path, border colors, etc. Or maybe I can enable css editing via a Advanced options tab or something, let me know what you prefer at my blog.
