Image & Video XML Sitemaps adds advanced functionality to Yoast SEO’s sitemap capabilities. This plugin is designed to improve the indexing of your media assets by search engines.

Why Use This Plugin?

While Yoast SEO provides a media sitemap, it doesn’t allow separate links for images or videos. Our plugin fills this gap by offering independent sitemaps for each type of media, ensuring better SEO coverage and more targeted search engine indexing.

Even with Yoast SEO’s media sitemap options enabled, this plugin generates independent sitemaps for better control and optimization of your media assets.

Extra Notes:

Please visit Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and simply click “Save Changes”. This will flush and refresh the rewrite rules so that the custom sitemap URLs start working properly.

Translations

This plugin is translatable into multiple languages. A .pot file is included in the /languages/ directory.
To create or use translations:
1. Create a .po file for your language using the .pot file.
2. Convert it to a .mo file.
3. Place both files in the /languages/ directory, following the naming convention image-video-xml-sitemap-[locale].po and image-video-xml-sitemap-[locale].mo.

This plugin is licensed under the GPLv2 or later.

1. Upload:
   Upload the image-video-xml-sitemaps folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory or install the plugin directly from the WordPress Plugins directory.
2. Activate:
   Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
3. Configure:
   Navigate to Tools > Image & Video Sitemap for Yoast to enable or disable sitemaps and customize file names.
