Installation
To use Plankton and connect with other blogs to share teasers, every user needs to install the WordPress plug in into their plug-in directory. For now, we are moderating all new users with a human eye. We can also moderate all new posts in our admin panel, if needed.
We also offer a profile page at https://profile.plankton.social for every user. Once logged in, users can select the posts they want to share, change the design of teaser, select from blogs they want to share and those they don’t want to. In addition, they can see how many clicks their teaser received on other blogs. And users can also select categories for their teaser sharing.
TECH SPECS
Plug In
This is a simple HTML block with javascript and stylesheets. It loads teaser data from plankton.social into widget.
Plug In Activation
When users activate the plug-in, the plug-in lets us know this happened
Post Save
When user creates or updates post, the plug-in sends this post to plankton.social
Teaser Build
Title for teaser we take from users post’s title. Intro is the first 100 symbols of the post’s body text.
Activate Teaser
If user creates (published) new post, the currently active teaser is changed to new teaser with new post. But if user explicitly selects active post in profile pages, then the teaser doesn’t change
