Description

This is a simple plugin to protect your wp-content/uploads folder from being browsed and people downloading your content
(Based on the plugin “Secure Folder wp-content/uploads” made by Daniel Satria)

Installation

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin and browse for the plugins “Secure-Uploads.zip” on your computer then select the file and click open and then click Install Now.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Go to Settings > Secure Uploads.
  4. Click on “Secure uploads now!” button to start the process.
  5. Hooray now people can’t browse through your uploads folder (Note it is recommended that you do steps 3 & 4 once a month as WordPress monthly makes a new sub-directory in your uploads).

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this do every folder?

Yes, the plugin will put the index.php in every sub-directory wp-content/uploads but it only does it when you click the “Secure uploads now!” button to start the process.
