Detailed feature comparison

Do I need Google Analytics AND directory analytics?

Yes! They serve different purposes:

Google Analytics 4 shows website-wide traffic, visitor sources, and general behaviour patterns. Essential for understanding your overall web presence.

Directory Analytics shows listing-specific performance, search patterns, category engagement, and directory-specific insights that Google Analytics cannot generate.

Use both for the complete picture of your directory business.

Is this really free? No hidden costs?

Yes, completely free with no time limits or feature restrictions on core analytics.

The free version includes:

  • Full analytics dashboard with charts

  • Listing performance tracking

  • Category analytics

  • All time period views (Today, 7 days, 30 days, All Time)

  • Real-time tracking

Pro features (optional): PDF reports, CSV exports, custom date ranges, email automation, SEO analysis starting at £5/year.

Does this work with Directorist Pro?

Yes! SFR Directory Analytics is compatible with Directorist (both free and Pro versions). The plugin detects Directorist automatically and tracks listing performance regardless of which version you’re running.

We’ve had no reported compatibility issues with Directorist Pro, and the plugin has been successfully used by Directorist users since launch.

Does this work with multiple directory plugins at once?

Yes! If you have multiple directory plugins active, SFR Directory Analytics will track all of them simultaneously.

Will this slow down my website?

No. Tracking is lightweight and uses WordPress best practices. Data is written efficiently to your database with minimal overhead. The plugin is designed to have zero impact on page load times.

Does this track unique visitors or just page views?

The plugin tracks total page views, not unique visitors. This means if the same person views a listing multiple times, each view is counted.

Why are my category view counts higher than listing view counts?

This is normal and by design! Category views represent total engagement across all listings in that category. When a visitor views a listing, each of its assigned top-level categories also receives a view count. For example, if a listing is in 3 categories and gets 100 views, those 3 categories will each receive 100 views, resulting in 300 total category views. This helps you understand which categories drive the most overall engagement across your directory.

Can I see which traffic sources bring views to my listings?

Traffic source, device, and geographic location tracking is available in Directorist Analytics (their premium extension). SFR Directory Analytics focuses on directory-specific insights like listing performance, search trends, and category engagement. We track what directory owners need most without requiring expensive subscriptions.

Can I exclude my own views from analytics?

Yes! Go to Directory Analytics > Settings and enable “Exclude Administrators” to exclude admin views from being tracked.

How long is data retained?

By default, 90 days of historical data is kept. You can configure this from 7-365 days in the Settings page.

Is this GDPR compliant?

Yes. All data is stored locally in your WordPress database. No personal information is collected – only view counts for pages. The plugin does not track individual users or require cookie consent.

Does this affect my website’s GDPR cookie requirements?

No. Since the plugin only counts page views and doesn’t track individual users or set cookies, it doesn’t affect your cookie consent requirements.

Does each website track separately?

Yes. Each WordPress installation maintains its own independent analytics database. Perfect for using the same plugin across multiple client sites.

What happens if I deactivate one of my directory plugins?

The analytics data for that plugin is preserved in the database. If you reactivate the directory plugin later, historical data will still be available.

Does this work with caching plugins?

Yes! SFR Directory Analytics is fully compatible with popular caching plugins including WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, and others.

Can I export the analytics data?

CSV and PDF export functionality is available in the Pro version. The free version displays all data in beautiful dashboards.

How much database space does this use?

Very minimal. The plugin uses approximately 1KB per 100 views tracked. Even high-traffic sites will see negligible database growth.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

  1. Continue using the free version as long as you like

  2. When you need Pro features (reports, exports, email automation), visit our website

  3. Purchase a license (£5/year or £10 lifetime for 5 sites)

  4. Install Pro version alongside (or replace) free version

  5. Activate with your license key

30-day money-back guarantee on all Pro purchases.

What if I switch directory platforms?

Your analytics data stays with you. SFR works across Directorist, GeoDirectory, and Business Directory, so switching platforms doesn’t mean losing your analytics history or learning a new tool.

What if I find a bug or compatibility issue?

We actively maintain this plugin and respond quickly to issues:

  • Free version users: Post in the WordPress.org support forum

  • Pro version users: Priority email support

  • Critical issues: We aim to release fixes within 48 hours

We test with the major directory platforms, but if you encounter an edge case we haven’t seen, we’ll work with you to resolve it quickly.
