Description

This plugin is designed to be used by UK schools using the OpenCheck service found at http://opencheck.atomwide.com. In those instances where staff and parents are using the ParentComms mobile app to subscribe to notifications regarding school status via OpenCheck, this plugin will allow schools using WordPress to send their latest posts as push notifications directly to subscribers’ mobile apps free of charge. Schools can choose to send a post out to staff only or to all ParentComms users associated subscribing to the school to help improve communication and encourage parental engagement.

Installation

  1. Upload your plugin folder to the ‘/wp-content/plugins’ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

Who should use this plugin?

Any UK school using OpenCheck (http://opencheck.atomwide.com) where parents and staff have installed the ParentComms mobile app for either Android or iOS and are subscribing to your school’s status updates via OpenCheck within the app.

How do I obtain a token needed to configure the plugin?

To obtain the token a member of school staff with administrative permissions will need to log in to the OpenCheck service. Users from LGfL/TRUSTnet schools simply need to be either a Nominated Contact or an OpenCheck administrator. Anyone from another school may sign up to use OpenCheck by visiting http://opencheck.atomwide.com and signing up for an account.

Simply log in with a suitable authorised account, access the WordPress plugin page under the Admin tab and generate the required token.
