Before After Image Comparison – Visual Comparison for Two Images

This plugin does what it's supposed to do, and it does it very well. So why don't I love it?

Because it also does exactly the kinds of things that I, as both a WordPress community plugin developer and for-hire custom theme developer, find maddening about so many plugins out there. It just has to stand out.

I want a plugin that seamlessly slots itself into the WordPress user experience. The editing interface for a well-designed plugin should be (nearly) indistinguishable from a core feature. I like that for myself, aesthetically, but I all-but insist on it for my clients, so they are not confused by inconsistencies in the admin user interface.

Why is everything purple? Why is everything bigger than normal? Why doesn't it recognize my theme's color palette? And WHY does it nag me for a review with a giant box in the Block Editor sidebar?

All of those things are awful, they degrade the user experience, they make my work look cheap, and they make the plugin developer look desperate.

I get it. I make plugins. I even sell a pro version of one of them. But if you want to get people to spread the word about your plugin, and to leave good reviews, just wow them with a perfect user experience and leave the rest to them.
