This plugin allows you to display a widget containing a list of countries with a flag, a country name and misc information. You can choose if you want to display the country names or not.
It can be used to display scores, sport results, registrations, people participating in an event and much more.
You can edit smcfi.css file to adjust width of elements, or override css classes smcfi-name and smcfi-misc.
Flags are 64×64 pixel sized to be ready for retina displays.
It is forked from jimmywb excellent plugin ‘Simple Link List’ and behaves the same.

Country Flags Info Widget

Enables a widget in which you can display a list of country with flags, names and misc information.

Adds a visual editor button for pulling information about any country from <a href="https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/topics/125589" rel="nofollow ugc">The World Bank API</a>. 
You will find a new “globe” button in the visual (WYSIWYG) editor after activating the plugin. 
Once the button is clicked and 2 letter ISO code of the country is entered, the plugin pulls following information from the API about the country:
<ul>
<li>Country name</li>
<li>Capital City</li>
<li>ISO Code</li>
<li>Region</li>
<li>Income Level</li>
<li>Population (last 5 years)</li>
<li>GDP in current USD (last 5 years).</li>
</ul>
Pulled information is added to the editor directly without any shortcodes. Once the post is saved, the info is saved as a regular text in the database. 
No more API requests will be made to retrieve that info again.
