<p>Format Media Titles WordPress plugin allows you to format titles for newly uploaded media items. It can be pretty tedious to have to manually edit the title for newly uploaded media items. This Plugin automates things by removing and replacing characters from the title such as hyphens, and underscores, with spaces. The title can then be capitalized by a method of your choice:</p>
<ul>
<li>First letter of each word capitalized.</li>
<li>First letter of first word capitalized only.</li>
<li>All letters made uppercase.</li>
<li>All letter made lower case.</li>
<li>No capitalization. Title remains unchanged.</li>
</ul>
<p>You will especially benefit from this Plugin if your media files have descriptive names, as you won’t have to manually edit them at all after uploading them!</p>
<p>As well as formatting the title for newly uploaded media items, you can also optionally copy the formatted title to the ALT, and description fields too, via plugin settings.</p>

Format Media Titles

I had been meaning to search for a plugin like this for a while. I was glad to find that it exists while preparing an article with dozens of images. It definitely saved me some time re-typing the title in a pretty way. The option to copy to ALT is handy too.

You can choose between Markdown, Textile 1, Textile 2, nl2br, WPautop, and “No Formatting” for formatting along with the choice of SmartyPants, WPTexturize or “No Encoding” for character encodings.</p>

<p>Not really a bug so much, but an issue: Textile 2 is freaking huge (145k > 4000 lines of code) so it can be quite a burden on your server. If you can get away with <em>not</em> using it, I highly reccomend you do so.</p>

<p>Additionally, in Textile 2 there is a feature that would grab an image via PHP and get it’s height and width for placing in the IMG tags. This has been disabled It literally took a post from 1 second to display straight to 6 seconds — completely unacceptable.</p>
