List Category Posts allows you to list posts by category in a post or page using the <code>[catlist]</code> shortcode. When you’re editing a page or post, directly insert the shortcode in your text and the posts will be listed there. The basic usage would be something like this:

The shortcode accepts a category name or id, the order in which you want the posts to display, and the number of posts to display. You can also display the post author, date, excerpt, custom field values, even the content! A lot of parameters have been added to customize what to display and how to show it. Check <a href="https://github.com/picandocodigo/List-Category-Posts/wiki" rel="nofollow ugc">the full documentation</a> to learn about the different ways to use it.
The <code>[catlist]</code> shortcode can be used as many times as needed with different arguments on each post/page. 
 [catlist id=1 numberposts=10]
There’s an options page with a few options, new options will be implemented on demand (as long as they make sense).

Customization
The different elements to display can be styled with CSS. you can define an HTML tag to wrap the element with, and a CSS class for this tag. Check <a href="https://github.com/picandocodigo/List-Category-Posts/wiki" rel="nofollow ugc">the documentation</a> for usage. You can also check <a href="http://sundari-webdesign.com/wordpress-the-quest-to-my-perfect-list-view-for-posts-events-and-articles/" rel="nofollow ugc">this nice tutorial</a> which gives lots of tips and how-to’s to customize how to display the posts.
Great to use WordPress as a CMS, and create pages with several categories posts.
GUI

Widget
Since WordPress 4.9, <a href="https://make.wordpress.org/core/2017/10/24/widget-improvements-in-wordpress-4-9/" rel="nofollow ugc">you can use shortcode in text widgets</a>. So you can just add a text widget in Appearence > Widgets and write the List Category Posts shortcode.
The plugin also includes a widget as a simple interface for its functionality. Just add as many widgets as you want, and select all the available options from the Appearence > Widgets page. Not all the functionality in the shortcode has been implemented in the widget yet. You can use the shortcode for the most flexibility.

Below you can find common shortcode use cases. You can use the shortcode while editing posts, pages, custom post types, text widgets and in all “page builder” plugins that support shortcodes.

The default number of listed posts is 10, to modify it you need to specify <code>numberposts</code> parameter:

List posts from the “Dogs” category:

List posts from the category with id <code>2</code>:

By default only the “post” post type is included. To list pages use:

If we combine the above options we can get a shortcode that lists 15 items, including post and pages, from the “Dogs” category:

The plugin can detect current post’s category and use it for listing:

The plugin also supports pagination. You need to specify <code>numberposts</code> to tell the plugin how many posts per page you want:

Painless Analytics

This simple plugin adds an HTML (Not XML) sitemap of your pages (not posts) by using the shortcode <code>[html_sitemap]</code>. This plugin can display a sitemap with specific depths, from a specific parent page and include/exclude specific pages by ID. The sitemap uses the unordered HTML list tags <code><ul></code> and <code><li></code>.
New for 2.0 is the HTML Sitemap Block, now you can add a HTML Sitemap using the WordPress Block Editor.
Attributes include <code>sort_column</code>, <code>sort_order</code>, <code>exclude</code>, <code>include</code>, <code>depth</code>, <code>child_of</code>, <code>meta_key</code>, <code>meta_value</code>, <code>authors</code>, <code>number</code>, <code>offset</code>, <code>post_type</code>, and <code>post_status</code> parameters from the <a href="https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_list_pages" rel="nofollow ugc"><code>wp_list_pages</code></a> function. In addition you can also set <code>class</code>, <code>id</code>, and <code>ordered_list_type</code> to further customize the html page sitemap.
This plugin is perfect for those who use WordPress as a CMS.
<h3>Block / Shortcode Tag Attribute Options</h3>
The following wp_list_pages tag attribute options are supported:
<ul>
<li><code>authors</code> — Comma-separated list of author IDs. Default empty (all authors).</li>
<li><code>child_of</code> — ID of child page, ‘CURRENT’, or ‘PARENT’. The value ‘CURRENT’ will use the current page ID. The value ‘PARENT’ will use the current page parent ID.</li>
<li><code>depth</code> — -1 (any depth), 0 (all pages), 1 (top-level pages only), 2 (top-level and 2nd level pages only), etc.</li>
<li><code>date_format</code> — e.g. ‘l, F j, Y’. See <a href="https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/customize-date-and-time-format/" rel="ugc">WordPress Date Format</a></li>
<li><code>exclude</code> — Comma-separated list of page IDs to exclude.</li>
<li><code>include</code> — Comma-separated list of page IDs to include.</li>
<li><code>item_spacing</code> — Whether to preserve whitespace within the menu’s HTML. Accepts ‘preserve’ or ‘discard’.</li>
<li><code>meta_key</code> — Limits output to pages having a specific custom field key. </li>
<li><code>meta_value</code> — Limits output to pages having a specific custom field value.</li>
<li><code>number</code> — Limits the number of links displayed (SQL LIMIT).</li>
<li><code>offset</code> — Skips a specific number of pages before displaying the list.</li>
<li><code>post_type</code> — Post type to query for. Default ‘page’</li>
<li><code>post_status</code> — Comma-separated list or array of post statuses to include. Default ‘publish’</li>
<li><code>show_date</code> — Whether to display the page publish or modified date for each page. Accepts ‘modified’ or any other value. An empty value hides the date.</li>
<li><code>sort_column</code> — Comma-separated list of column names to sort the pages by. Accepts ‘post_author’, ‘post_date’, ‘post_title’, ‘post_name’, ‘post_modified’, ‘post_modified_gmt’, ‘menu_order’, ‘post_parent’, ‘ID’, ‘rand’, or ‘comment_count’. Default ‘menu_order, post_title’.</li>
<li><code>sort_order</code> — ‘ASC’ or ‘DESC’. Default ‘ASC’.</li>

Note: This plugin only works with Hierarchical Custom Post Types such as <code>pages</code>. This plugin will not work if your post type is not hierarchical. Not setting an ordered_list_type will use an unordered list (default).

HTML Page Sitemap (Block and Shortcode)

I felt the need to post a quick review for this plugin since it got a couple low ratings due to only including pages. The plugin clearly states it is for listing all of your pages only. It is not a normal XML sitemap. I'm giving it 5 stars because it is simple and does what I wanted. I simply wanted a page that listed all of my site's pages. This did it quickly and minimally. 

I do have one suggestion for the author. Rename the plugin. Instead of HTML Page Sitemap, perhaps it should be Simple Page List. Or, something that does not include "sitemap" since that word is what caused the couple low reviews, I think.
