This plugin overrides WordPress “automatically close comments” option on a per-post basis. So you can leave comments open on any post(s).
👉 Want to keep comments open on a few old posts? This plugin is for you.
👉 Uses only 4KB of code, so super lightweight, fast, and effective.
Features
<ul>
<li>Clean, secure code</li>
<li>Written according to the WP API</li>
<li>Simple, lightweight, and flexible</li>
<li>Localized and translation ready</li>
<li>Cleans up after itself when uninstalled</li>
</ul>
How it works
In the WordPress Discussion Settings, there is an option called “Automatically close comments on posts older than” whatever specified number of days. When this setting is enabled, comments will be disabled on any posts that are past the deadline, whatever “x” number of days.
What WordPress is missing is a simple way to override that global option on a per-post basis. That’s exactly what this plugin does.
For any post that is past the comment deadline, this plugin will display a small meta box on the “Edit Post” screen for each post. There you can check the box to enable comments on the post. Comments will then remain open for that post indefinitely, until the box is unchecked or the plugin is uninstalled. Check out the screenshot below to get a better idea.

Are you looking for a timeless, elegant, and streamlined discussion board? bbPress is easy to integrate, easy to use, and is built to scale with your growing community.
bbPress is intentionally simple yet infinitely powerful forum software, built by contributors to WordPress.

bbPress

Tried to install: keymaster issue (so, cannot work at all).

fixed keymaster issue with bbp style plugin (a plugin to fix another plugin looks insane), now blank page.

tried to fix also this via bbp plugin, a lot of graphical glitch and shortcode not parsed.

atm (from some years now) is really unusable.

Unusable. looks like abandoned.

I am active on french support forum who runs under BBPress. It’s looks so old now, without the features (and rendering) the other forum’s programs have now. I now this forum here is under BBPress, but it’s a reworked version of what you get with the plugin.

so old now

I have been using it for many years and have always been very happy with it. It allows you to turn WordPress into an online community. Fantastic!
