<p>The same team that created PeepSo and its plugins had also created the theme: Gecko.<br />
Relying on third party themes pushes everything out of our hands; no control over the actual display – not entirely anyway. So a proof of concept was created, and we’ve received amazing feedback from the community. Community by PeepSo – Social Network, Membership, Registration, User Profiles, Premium – Mobile App


I have used Peepso Ultimate Bundle for over 3 years on several sites. One of these was a previously established BuddyPress (horror) community before the move to Peepso... and having decided that we really needed to get rid of Peepso, the migration to another solution was a very big job. 



Just prior to Peepso version 3, they decided to pretty much force Gecko theme onto users. Unfortunately, Gecko and Peepso, in general, don't like the WordPress ecosystem and don't use the Customizer, preferring their own solutions instead. This is a truly awful decision as it resulted in hours of work.Known problems are discusses in the Peepso community (which BTW offers no simple way to delete yourself from it) and nearly always the response is... "we intend to fix this in a future version". But it seldom happens. Because of the way they chose to move away from WordPress standards before Version 3 (their own customizer etc), we determined to not update from that point on and continued to make required edits to the plugins ourselves. In doing so, we essentially forked Peepso and were able to remove huge amount of bloated code, override several poorly designed aspects, introduce mobile push notifications, create a mobile app, vastly impove the quality of the CSS and massively reduce unused JavaScript - all for free. 



Peepso has the potential to be a super platform BUT they absolutely must redesign their database storage usage, make the relationships between content types obvious and easy to follow, store activity comments as WP comments, use the WordPress Customizer for Gecko Theme and Peepso styling, and reconsider their pricing model.Oh, also, once a user had paid for a licence once - they actually (WordPress licencing rules) have rights to use the plugins and extensions indefinitely just not with updates or support. Peepso hinders this by having licence and version checking in the init sequence of every page load - which then blocks the extensions from working if you haven't renewed. This should also be changed - if the product is good enough, users will happily renew their licences. Overall, a potentially good product but it caused our team thousands of hours of work to keep it running the way it should. The alternative WP plugin replacement we have chosen (not naming it here but it's easy to find with some research) has proven to be robust, better coded (although also with some small niggles) and uses the WP customizer and database storage in a logical and well.designed fashion.

<h4>Subscribe/Unsubscribe various push notifications in front end</h4>
<p>Front end push notification menu is available for BuddyPress Front end users to subscribe/unsubscribe various push notifications according to their choices. This menu is available in user profile – settings area. For other users, shortcode is available to display subscription menu for Front end users to subscribe/unsubscribe various push notifications according to their choices.</p>
<h4>Scheduling Push notification</h4>
<p>It allows Scheduled Push notifications to send push notifications hourly(every hour), twice daily(2 times per day), daily, weekly as per WordPress CRON. It also provides option to schedule push notification in background using action scheduler, this will be useful to send notification more than 100000 subscribers simultaneously in background mode.<br />
Push notification scheduling is available for On demand/One time, WordPress Post, BuddyPress activities, BuddyPress group activities and for BuddyPress comments.</p>
<h4>REST API</h4>
<p>REST API to connect mobile native/hybrid apps to send push notification from WordPress site to both mobile apps and WordPress sites.<br />
Using this REST API WordPress site gets Firebase Push Notification subscription token from Mobile app(Android/Ios).<br />
This allows to send push notifications to WordPress site users as well as to Native mobile app Android/ios users.<br />

<p>This plugin has facility to generate Progressive Web App (PWA). It also supports Progressier PWA.<br />
Go to plugin settings page to enable/disable PWA app and to customize PWA app with app name, app icon, app theme color, background color for PWA and list of pages to be included in offline cache for web app offline mode.</p>
<h4>Extra settings for NGINX server</h4>
<p>If server is NGINX and not able to create dynamic service worker file https://pnfpb_icpush_pwa_sw.js & PWA manifest json file https://pnfpbmanifest.json then go to plugin settings->nginx tab, enable static file creation option, it will create required static service worker file, PWA manifest json files in root folder. This option is applicable only if hosting/server is based on NGINX and not creating dynamic service worker file, manifest json files. By default, this plugin creates dynamic service worker file and PWA manifest json file.</p>
<p>This plugin uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notification using Firebase registration credentials which is free of cost.</p>
