<h3>SMTP Mailer Settings</h3>

<li><strong>SMTP Host</strong>: Your outgoing mail server (e.g. smtp.gmail.com).</li>
<li><strong>SMTP Authentication</strong>: Whether to use SMTP authentication when sending an email (True/False). If you choose to authenticate you will also need to provide your username and password.</li>
<li><strong>SMTP Username</strong>: The username to connect to your SMTP server.</li>
<li><strong>SMTP Password</strong>: The password to connect to your SMTP server.</li>
<li><strong>Type of Encryption</strong>: The encryption to be used when sending an email (TLS/SSL/No Encryption. TLS is recommended).</li>
<li><strong>SMTP Port</strong>: The port to be used when sending an email (587/465/25). If you choose TLS the port should be set to 587. For SSL use port 465 instead.</li>
<li><strong>From Email Address</strong>: The email address to be used as the From Email when sending a test email.</li>
<li><strong>From Name</strong>: The name to be used as the From Name when sending a test email.</li>
<li><strong>Force From Name</strong>: The From name in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.</li>
<li><strong>Force From Email</strong>: The From email in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.</li>
<li><strong>Force From Address</strong>: The From address in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.</li>
<li><strong>Disable SSL Certificate Verification</strong>: As of PHP 5.6 a warning/error is shown if the SSL certificate on the server is not properly configured. This option lets you disable that behaviour.</li>

<p>Once you have configured the settings you can send a test email to check the functionality of the plugin.</p>

SMTP Mailer

So i have tried configuring it two ways - with gmail and smtp from my own hosting, it doesn't work in both cases.

With gmail it hangs on password authentication according to log - the password IS correct, less secure apps is checked and critical login is confirmed. 

With my own smtp credentials - it supposedly sending test message, but it simply doesn't comply with CF7, there's an error while sending form and that's it.

It is lightweight, which i really like but what of it if plugin doesn't work even on native settings?

To dev:
- if you fix it, then i will change my review. Latest WP, only your plugin and CF7, PHP 7.3 and default Wordpress theme.

Minimalistic, Does the job

<p>I have issues with my hosting service not allowing me to easily set the ‘From line’ for my server email. Whenever a new user signs up they see username@hostingservice.com even though they should see user@site.com. Before Send From you would be required to modify your installation of WordPress just about every time you do an update. No longer! With Send From, you simply go into your admin panel and set what the end user will see on their emails from line.</p>

<h3>Security</h3>
<p>CVE: CVE-2025-46469 – Cross-site scripting (Stored XSS) in plugin settings.</p>
<p>Summary: A stored XSS issue was reported in older versions of this plugin where un-sanitized input saved in plugin options could later be rendered into the admin interface without proper escaping. The repository has been updated to sanitize incoming option values and escape output when rendering form fields. The plugin also validates the test-send email address.</p>
<p>Mitigation applied in this repository:<br />
– Sanitize email values with WordPress’ sanitize_email() before saving.<br />
– Sanitize name fields with sanitize_text_field() before saving.<br />
– Escape values when printed into HTML attributes using esc_attr().<br />
– Validate test-send addresses with is_email() and refuse to save invalid addresses.</p>
