<p><strong>Wider Admin Menu</strong> is a standalone plugin built, maintained & operated by the friendly folks over at <a href="https://www.machothemes.com/" rel="nofollow ugc">MachoThemes</a>.</p>
<p>Wider Admin Menu is a lightweight plugin that lets you set the width of your admin menu from the default <code>160px</code> up to <code>300px</code>.</p>
<p>A separate stylesheet is also included if you wish to avoid Yet Another Plugin. See FAQ.</p>
<p>This plugin will <em>leave no trace!</em> If you delete the plugin, all settings will be removed from the database. Guaranteed. However, simply deactivating it will leave your settings in place, as expected.</p>

Great helper plugin! I just copied the css to my build system and made the width a scss variable. Fast adjustments! :))

This should be the default Admin left navigation width!



Brilliant plugin - I just wish that Gutenberg editor and others recognised this width, as they seem to be left-aligned to the original width, hiding an important part of their interfaces.



Maybe there's another way to implement this? Or maybe an alternative would be knocking the font size down a couple of pixels but within the original width for less wrapped text, or maybe just change the way text wraps.



Nice try though, appreciate someone making the effort for the obvious issue that core has missed.

I did not realize that narrow Admin Menu is what makes me uncomfortable until I saw this plugin. 



Installed it and it indeed does help.

<h3>User roles / capabilities</h3>
<p>Please note that the plugin does <strong>not</strong> alter or create user roles or capabilities. It simply uses the user roles as conditions to hide the admin menu / admin bar items.</p>
<p>It’s recommended to use a role management plugin (like <a href="https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/" rel="ugc">Members</a>) to create roles and then use this plugin to control the menu visibility.</p>
<p><strong>Warning:</strong> Be careful if you hide menus from <strong>administrators</strong>. You’ll loose access to these menus. If you want to block access to certain menu items for other administrators, please create another role and move those users to that role. Then use the plugin to hide menus from them.</p>

Great Plugin

This is exactly what I was looking for to hide some menu items on one site but not another. Works perfectly with multisite. Easy to use with default roles, or use a separate custom role plugin to create custom roles. Thanks!
